Pardiola's Palace vs. Big Brendan's Pool Empty Pardiola's Palace vs. Big Brendan's Pool

Post by DeletedUser#1 Wed Feb 11, 2015 5:28 am

After two forgettable visits to the shithole that's Selhurst Park, we go back again on Saturday for a game that could see us in the last 8 of FA CUP by the end of it.

Remember when we were 3-0 up against a Tony Pulis managed Palace team with 30 minutes to go and we went on with mission to score another 7 goals ? People remember that goal for Suarezlegend tears, but to me, that was my proudest moment as a LFC fan. A glorious game I'll never forget. We genuinely went to win a game 10-0 !!! AND WE BELIEVED, because we were sooooo good.

In November, we gave them a win with Collin Wanker as their manager, but now Pardiola is in charge. They are in good form and will be destroying Carver's NUFC tomorrow.

But, we have some squad management to do. With run of games coming up, we really should look to finish the tie off there and avoid a replay. But Besiktas at home on Saturday followed by a 6 pointer at St Mary's, how do we approach this ?! If it were up to me:

--------------------------Mignolet------------------------------
--------Lovren-----------Skrtel----------------Sakho---------
Manquillo-----------------------------------------Markovic---
-----------------Allen-----------Can---------------------------
-----Lallana----------Sturridge--------Sterling---------------

Bench: Ward, Henderson, Gerrard, Balotelli, Moreno, Coutinho, Johnson

Important Coutinho and Henderson get a breather. Storage needs more minutes, and if Sterling still carrying a knock, start Balo instead to see how it gets on. Need to have good bench options as we don't play for another 5 days.

For Besiktas games, I think BR will look forward to finish the tie at Anfield, since we travel to Turkey and play there less than 65 hours before hosting City. So we'll be looking to take a 2 goal advantage there, and maybe just go and park the bus in Turkey.

Anyways, This is FA Cup and if we win this, we have a great chance of going to Wembley. Come on Reds !!

Sepi making threads again Shocked hmm Chaka Molenation

I would field a team like this:

Mignolet
Johnson-Skrtel-Lovern
Manquillo-Allen-Gerrard-Markovic
Lallana
Balotelli-Sturridge

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for winning the Cup. In fact, I'm quite fond of these low-profile tournaments. But let's be rational, we don't have the resources for all three tournaments and some of the players badly needs rest.

I doubt Lallana can be a focal point of any attack for us. We need Sturridge on the bench, Allen and Can in midfield...Balotelli as a lone striker..just keep feeding him in-around the box and he will put one or two of them IN
We will win this (well i would like win to but by resting all important players otherwise I dont care), Brendan has never done repeated mistakes in his career against one team or a manager, he always manages to find the answer at correct time.

Like it's been said, Henderson and Coutinho need rest. Both are playing with heavy legs, I don't remember the last time Coutinho lacked forward drive as bad as against Tottenham.

However, even Can has been playing every game lately, ideally he would get a rest at some point, too. Our CM situation is rather bad, might be clever to start Lallana as CM - or Enrique :coffee:

This is a very tricky situation this game, as I'd really like to win and progress, but I also think we need to rotate players and the drop in quality in some cases is scary.

Huh? Lallana can do well there I think. Coutinho needs the rest especially since other teams have identified him and started giving him absolutely no breathing room. Though, honestly, they can't do that for long with Sturridge coming back and looking great and guys like Markovic, Ibe and Sterling around. Damn we are spoiled with potential right now.

In it to win! Keep marching to that top 4 spot. Rodgers Molenation

Is Touré back? Would like to see this:

Skrtel - Touré - Lovren
Manquillo - Can - Allen - Enrique
Lallana - Markovic
Balotelli

Wouldn't mind Borini starting over Balo TBQH. Or maybe even have Rossiter in over Allen for that holding role, he's brash, reads the game well and plays a nice ball forward.

Pardiola's Palace vs. Big Brendan's Pool Empty Re: Pardiola's Palace vs. Big Brendan's Pool

Post by iftikhar Wed Feb 11, 2015 4:44 pm

Thing is, all of our core players have played 10-15 games without break. And they can't be expected to be rested against Besiktas, Southampton, Besiktas & City. That means our core players will be playing 15-20 games without any break.

This is the game where we have to take our chances. This is the game where the 'other' players have to take their chances.

If we consider

Mignolet
Emre-Skrtel-Sakho
Ibe-Henderson-Allen-Moreno
Raheem-Coutinho
Sturridge

for those four games and rest as many from them for this game, we still have enough quality

Mignolet
Skrtel-Toure-Lovern
Manquillo-Gerrard-Allen-Markovic
Raheem-Lallana
Sturridge

That still leaves some decent options for the bench

Johnson, Enrique, Balotelli, Borini, Lambert

We were quite thin in midfield and have been dealt a sucker-punch in the shape injury to Lucas; now we must protect our precious Henderson-Emre.

Guys....this game is 4 full days after our last game and 4 full days before the game we play next. Plenty of time and recovery. The only players that need a breather are Henderson and Coutinho.

Can / Sakho / Sturridge / etc barely even played in first half of the season, these guys have plenty left in the tank. And we aren't playing Southend at home, this is Palace away a tough game.

Not to mention Henderson got a breather at Bolton replay (only played last 20 min) and Coutinho got 40 mins off vs. Everton. But as I said I'd start neither.

Definitely don't want Enrique anywhere near the team here. We need to try to win this game. Since I was Studge to start vs. Besiktas and Soton, I may start him on the bench here with Balo/Borini leading the line. But 2-3 changes max to the first team. We need to keep the unbeaten momentum going and keep progressing. Confidence is a wonderful thing and can bring 50% extra energy to the team.

What I wrote in the other thread about this game

eff this. we need to win to progress. Hoping for a very strong side. Sturridge to start. Sterling and Lallana behind him. Coutinho to get a rest. Can and Hendo in midfield. Markovic and Moreno as wing backs. And give Lovren a go again.

Mignolet
Lovren - Skrtel - Sakho
Markovic - Can - Hendo - Moreno
Sterling - Lallana

Gerrard out for 3 weeks.

Reportedly Can is about to be re-called to midfield with either Lovren/Johnson being given a second chance at RCB.

Kolo not back from Africa yet (still hungover)

I think Lovren will perform good this time, specially in a 3CB system. He will be fired up to see that a 21 yold kid of a monster has taken his place so he will surely give everything to retain his place

Guys....this game is 4 full days after our last game and 4 full days before the game we play next. Plenty of time and recovery.
It's not just about 4+4 days.

#1. If not rested, some of the players will be playing 15-20 games without break and that makes them really vulnerable to injury and fatigue.

#2. All through the past games players have been taking little knocks & bruises. These little things tend to get accumulated if not rested/treated properly, and spring a nasty shock. On the other hand 8-9 days respite/treatment can cure these totally.

Ask yourself, when do you need Emre, Henderson, Coutinho etc. more!!! Against Palace or against Saints, Besiktas & City!!!

We're going to need a decent team out to beat them. We're horrid away with our half -arsed performances displays on the road, and Crystal Palace is no walkover. This is our best chance for a trophy, so playing a weaker side will see us out imo.

Mignolet
Johnson-Skrtel-Lovern
Manquillo-Lallana-Allen-Markovic
Raheem-Balotelli
Sturridge

That would be a decent team IMO.

I think Raheem has a foot injury, otherwise I could agree with that. Maybe start Can and push Lallana forward.

Also, it's "Lovren"... x)

Frankly, I think we will see something like this

Johnson-Skrtel-Sakho
Manquillo-Henderson-Allen-Moreno
Markovic-Lallana
Sturridge

I simply can't see Rodgers resting so many players.

See, now I'm just going to ask you for quotes, but as usual you'll disappear and realise what you write is stupid and just plain wrong which will end up with you just forgetting about it and just act as if you said nothing in which reality you just look like a clown. :coffee:

The Eagles and the Reds have met four times in the FA Cup, with three of the ties going to replays after a 0-0 draw in the first match. The meeting that didn't go to a replay was the 1990 semi-final which went to extra-time before Palace won 4-3.

Daniel Sturridge has scored nine goals in his last 11 FA Cup starts.

Liverpool have kept only three clean sheets in their last 19 FA Cup games.

Praising him for playing Suarez and Sturridge together is like praising him for playing 11 players on game day. lmao

Anyway, game day.

We suck in cup competitions under Rodgers, so I hope we manage a win and progress but it won't be easy. We need a trophy.
