Thought this was interesting:

I'd love for us to try out a diamond every now and then. Seems to fit our personnel quite well.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Excellent read really and I couldn't agree more.
None of our players actually like to play wide and I mean none. Think of Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Wilshere, Özil, Sanchez ALL like to play centrally
So such a change in formation would not only benefit Alexis Sanchez but the whole team. Ramsey would be centrally, Özil would be, Sanchez and Walcott would be. Özil/Ramsey/Cazorla would have two quick forwards in front of them to make space and defensively we'd have 3 central midfielders instead of two.
It would be a similar set up to how Liverpool played in 13/14 with Sanchez being our Bitey and Walcott our Sturridge only with a better midfield and defence we could challenge for the league without even signing a striker.

Remember him. 3 years back, the 4 minute long youtube video had me convinced (along with Marvin martin) he was better than all the other targets we missed out on.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Amazing attitude. Could have just signed on and sat on the bench after failing to prove himself. But instead did the opposite.
Hope he is at the same level he was before. But with 6 months out and an operation, he is bound to suffer a bit physically.
I hope he joins the coaching staff after next year.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
I've been banging on about the need for more pressing for ages, not least because we have the players suited to it (Ramsey, Wilshere, Alexis, Welbeck being the main ones), but also because it enables to maintain control of games.
That Spurs game at WHL was horrible for how little control we had over proceedings. We practically gave Spurs control of the game by being far too passive. Passivity is a common feature of this Arsenal team without the ball, as seen by the amount of times we've taken a one or two goal lead and just sat in our shape afterwards, or how teams like Everton and Southampton have come to the Emirates and have had 50-60% of the ball as if they were the home team and we were the away team.
I wouldn't expect 2012 BVB like pressing or 2011 Barcelona like pressing, but there are lots of sides around that are better at pressing than we are, so it's probably time we sorted that out.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
We've had the pressing discussion before. In depth as well, I think in the tactics thread.
The thing about our pressing is that it just hasn't worked at all. Or it does for one or two games, but then we run into a team that undoes all this and then we're lost somewhere again. Nevermind talking about our constant injuries, so a player having to come in won't be adept to the pressing system coinciding with the cohesion of our game that's been working for said time, perfect example: Flamini. We've tried it before - high press with the attack, and then lay off when the opposition beats that first wave of pressing. Full team high press which causes the defence to come so high at times. The midfield press (which is what we've been using lately I think).
Pressing isn't the issue. It's finding the right rhythm to it, and making sure that the team does it in unison when required. It's rather a tough thing to do the full team press unless you have insane amounts of eneregy levels and retain the ball as quickly as possible. I still don't know how prime Pep Barca did it and they didn't even seem to change the starting team that much.

That said, it does throw up some tactic tizzies for the buffs wrt how we'd approach the issue in the coming season.
