Fabregas ( best Premier League midfielder this year ) was in Verratti's pocket in both matches.
Class , fighting spirit , great insight into the game , personality . 1992
Despite this, he is not still starter in Italy because he is so young and we have nose in the air for who plays outside Italy... lol . we deserve to be knocked out at group against Costa Rica.
I remind him since he played with Pescara in Serie C, he wasn't even a midfielder , fantastic and massive job made by Zeman on him.

I want to remind the things :

- Walter Mazzarri preferred Valon Behrami to Marco Verratti when he was Napoli manager ( yes , it is all confirmed )

- He can't  talk Italian language ffs Just the dialect.  maybe for this he is not selected from Italy. His teammates wouldn't understand him Infact he talk French better than Italian .

Not really relevant in any case, he's not Pirlo he doesn't sit in front of the back 4 so defensive capabilities are not really a prerequisite to judge his abilities on.

He's the closest thing to Xavi and he's only getting better.

verratti is NOT xavi and I love him. He loves to hold the ball and dribble... Sometimes too much. he's got a great future BUT he needs to work hard on two things big time:
- over aggressive and gets a lot of cards... One in almost every game he starts.
- his final ball is poor

So did Xavi once upon a time lol, he'll learn. He's already improved tenfold from last year.

I thought he was better last year and so does Blanc.  He's been benched a few times this season.  2 CL games is not indicative of 40 games.  Heck,you would think that motta was extremely good based on Chelsea tie when he's been in fact very poor.

A great talent.  Just needs to get back on track.  Hopefully the Chelsea games does that for him.

he is like Xabi, defending for him means making a rash or late tackle.

Completely disagree. Last year he had no idea how change the pace of build ups and transition play from the midfield to attack quickly. He couldn't do that last year and now he can and it's an extremely noticeable improvement.

I watched close to all of psg's games the past 4 years... And I'm telling you that Verratti (in fact the entire midfield) were much much better last season. Biggest reason psg struggles in ligue 1 is that the midfield is just not as performant both offensively and defensively. Motta is the biggest culprit... But Matuidi and Verratti have dropped some too.

I appreciate him lso because I follow him since he was known from few , even watched at stadium before of Zeman. he has always watched as a fantastic talent. So this appreciation thread is regardless of yesterday. But I want to give credit to Zeman . He was so lucky to meet the Bohemian. There is a problem about many current Italian managers,they're negative . Kovavic can't play under Mancini because he thinks the Croatian isn't soldi to defend (creating chances is rated secondary) , Allegri sold Pirlo to Milan because he wanted midfidlder destroyers etc etc just to make idea.
Verratti was a trequartista before of Zeman . Zeman developed as midfielder . Maybe some Italian managers would have developed him Giovinco-esque lol

Motta was very good last year but yes he was crap this yer.
anyway he is CL legend and when you are used to play these matches you've something more than others.

Great player on the ball,would love him in Modric's role in the future.He cant defend though. You just have to closely watch him. Commitment is there but he plays like he wants a yellow every game.
