If it's not deliberate, the hand has to be in an unnatural position... the rule has developed over the years. Frankly, it makes it very hard on the referees.

Doesn't matter. They ball could have very easily bounced into the path of any ducth player, but the same player whose arms it hit, ended up playing it. Clear penalty. The ball trajectory was clearly affected by a player trying to block the striker, who proceeded to kick the ball out.

This Swedish team is much better than that we had at the Euros. No more Seb Larsson to torture my eyes. Lindelöf starting aka future best CB in Europe. This team is full of players that were part of the U21 triumph. Bring on the big guns ffs

That might be true, but Koscielny couldn't make his hands disappear unfortunately. He dived to clear the ball and the ball ricochet to his hands which were in natural position.

that's not the criteria though rincon. it has to be one of three thing:
1- deliberate
2- have time to move your arm out of the way
3- arm in an unnatural position

Kos tackled and got the ball. He landed on the ball with his arm in a natural position in a half second and never saw it. You can't call a foul there (although plenty of refs do).

By the way... this rule was further developed as a result of the PK France got in the 2000 Euro semi final against Portugal. It was pretty similar to this. The Portuguese defender was in the box and stopped a shot that may have gone in. His arm was in a natural position and he didn't have time to get it out of the way. PK was called.

Everyone went crazy and they created this rule so you don't get that situation again.

Nope, Koscielny didn't fall by accident, he did that to block the shot. He ended up blocking it with his arms. He didn't have to be diving like that, he did it to stop the ball. The result was the ball bouncing between his arms. The whole action was deliberate, its not like the striker kicked it to his arms. Kos dived to block, caught it with his outstretched arms and played it. Absolutely a penalty. You'd be losing it if it was against France.

He blocked that shot wit his legs mate. Look how he turned around to block it using either his back or leg depending on how Jansen hits it. Ball only hits his hands after it ricochet from his legs

Yes, it his his legs too, but the ball trajectory was completely altered in his favor with his arms by an action he took deliberately. He didn't need to dive like that. Doing so is the only reason his arms were outstretched and he stopped the ball. Spanish commentators calling a penalty too.
