I suppose I must have imagined Suarez setting up Messi on the edge of the box with a wonderful lobbed pass.I suppose I also must have imagined numerous first time passes he made which initiated attacks for us.
On a tactical side,the formation was interesting.It was almost a 4-4-1-1.Normally Messi plays right and then drifts central.
This game it seemed like we were playing with 2 upfront with Messi behind Suarez.Messi also dropped very deep into midfield when we had the ball helping keep possession and move the ball forward.He drops in other games too but difference was this time he dropped from a central position. Other games he moves to midfield from the right.
Rakitic was mostly playing wide right midfielder,almost like a right winger.I think Blanc tried to take advantage by moving Lavezzi around to either flank with help from Pastore but I thought we defended the wings well.
Minus on their goal when Neymar switched off and didnt track VDW.

BTW congrats dani.I cant believe you would have had many better nights as a football fan.
Both your teams won convincingly in CL quarters playing good football against tough opponents.

Very good game from us only Mathieu could ruin a little bit. What a crazy player he is, can do the best and the worst.


I feel that everyone played a good game, only mediocre one maybe was Iniesta. It's a pitty Messi didn't scored, he deserved it.

Thank you. Obviously the Porto one surprised me more but what a great day of football and results. Glad I was so wrong about Quaresma (said he SURELY shouldnt start) and glad that we played a game closer to what we do best.

If Bayern get eliminated, Atletico KO Madrid and if we avoid Juve as long as possible ( better vs Allegri in 1 game than 2 I think) we have a great chance to win this. Big If's in there though.

I believe Atleti and Porto will advance.

All it takes is a draw, and Atleti have a warriors attitude and "belief" vs Real. Real also has random horrible games, like the 2nd leg vs Schalke. Plus they haven't beat Atleti once in 7 games now this season, why wouldn't Atleti be able to rough out another draw. Just saying I wouldn't be shocked if Atleti advanced

I think Suarez should possibly rest this, put Messi on the middle and Pedro on the wing, so Messi can help when the midfield gets pummeled to death.

Let's go! We should rest Neymar or Suarez today, and in the second half change both Messi and the other forward, together with the 4th most important player now (Rakitic).

Anyways, as for today I would not field a weaker squad as it would suck if it came back to bite us in the ass. If anything i would make small changes here and there, but nothing drastic. Would deff not play a double pivot especially with Veratti back. Also would start Mathieu and Pique to deal with the height and speed of Cavani and Ibra

One thing I like about Enrique he pisses are players off and they go to another level. Messi after Sociedad and Neymar recently.

David Luiz has always been an average defender at most, with a lot of terrible mistakes. Never rated him.

Pretty easy win, nothing to it much, changes were great if the intention was to save midfield, and Suarez had some rest also. Iniesta and Neymar had a great game.
