Even on a day that was dedicated to him, all he wanted was three points. That look of upset at the end was beautiful, just to see what drove him all these years. On a day where every man and his dog was dedicating it to Gerrard, he carried on has he has throughout his time here, wanting to win. You know it was that feeling of disappointment about losing that has driven him to be the monster he has been.

Given the fodder he has shared a pitch with in his time at Liverpool, it's remarkable we are where we are. Alonso, Agger, Masch, Torres, Suarez didn't come to Liverpool to tog out beside Nunez or Josemi or *insert dozens of other players here*, they came here to train and play with Gerrard. I say it with sincere honesty, without him, we'd be another Everton. And unless we're very, very careful in the transfer window this coming summer, and in the next couple of windows, we may very well be, in the not too distant future.

Just an absolute monster footballer for us. Retire the number 8, statue outside the stadium, name a stand in his honour, the whole works. He deserves every single one of them.

He'll never be replaced, because no player could ever carry the club for so long, in the way he has.

There is a reason likes of Pirlo/ADP/Buffon/Arda/Grizzman/Cesc/Shevchenko/Kaka/Nesta etc that never even played with him are saluting him today and no one gave a damn about back-stabbing brother from Wales retirement last year.

Hell, AS Roma and Totti even published a story on their official website about Gerrard.

To dislike of the obsessed Mancs (More Man Utd fans tweeting about Gerrard today than anyone else), He's actually very very much respected and liked abroad and among his peers, unlike their hero.

I'll take the trophies and success of Giggs, over some phony sentiments from his peers, it's like there is some need to hear other players talk about there respect for him because well aside from one night in Istanbul his career is full of disappointments and few trophies

that being said plenty of players had words of respect for both Giggs and Scholes when they retired, just it wasn't needed to be said really because there medals spoke for themselves

Sad for you, I, (and insert armchair fans)....we can take absolutely no credit for what another individual has accomplished or achieved.

All we can do from thousands of miles apart, is to observe, cherish, or get sad. If you take pleasure at the medals that Giggs/(insert any sporting player) has won...then something is wrong. Because you've done naught to contribute to them.

I only had a go because your fellow supporter decided to bring up giggs (out of nowhere) and how well he was respected in the football world

it don't matter how many titles you won under fergie with any player you had. none of them had the talent of gerrard. man u have never had a player as good as gerrard. and no amount of title wins can cover up that fact.

and lets be honest here. Ronaldo is a outrageous goal scorer. but the rest of his game don't come close to gerrards. take the goals away ( one is a mf player the other is there to get goals anyway ) and gerrard wipes the floor with him.

This is one of the worst posts I have ever seen in this forum. Do you think Luis Enrique is the greatest player of all time? He played every position in his career other than CB and goalie.

But yo guys, respect Gerrard. He is one of the Premier League's biggest legends. It's not possible to go OTT with his send off, he deserves the grandest of farewells.
