We are not going to compete for anything big this year anyways, Wenger already has problems with the players he has, plus he knows City won the league. The last thing we needed was to confuse another player at Arsenal.

Next year or the year after we might compete if we feel like it.

I would support any change in our attack from Walcott/Welbeck regularly starting to a change in formation with Alexis leading the attack but our "internal solutions" are in reality "stick with the same team that finished 3rd last year + Cech". Basically no solution at all.

But it is still a much better squad than the one which was beaten 8-2. It feels very depressing thinking we haven't done anything this window, but I think it is not as disastrous as we are painting it.
