El Gunner wrote:But that's the thing Chums. If he has been an up andd comer for the past few years, then doesn't it mean that probably he hasn't been able to make that one big breakthrough to the next level and that clubs don't necessarily think he'll make that said breakthrough hence the reason nobody has gone in and gambled on him thus far.Chums wrote:But I know he's been an up-and-coming figure from that part of the world for a few years now.
Oh, I don't know - dude's 24, some players don't really hit their stride until that age or even a bit later. I mean, until he was 24 or so, a bunch of people wouldn't have considered Diego Costa a big talent. A lot of fans had never even heard of Jamie Vardy until the last couple seasons - now he's in the history books. Hell, even RvP, always considered talented but injured (and perhaps inconsistent), didn't really hit that stride until he was 28 or thereabouts. (And it's abandoned him now...) There are tons of variables.
I'm not invested in making a big case for Kokorin because I don't know his stuff very well firsthand. But my own general rule of thumb is that a player 25 or under who has looked promising should never be counted out completely. It's true that a lot of the elite players manifest their talent and start realizing their potential well before that age, but each season there are breakouts or redemptive cases who are 23, 24, 25, even 26 ...
(Personally I'd be more worried if Kokorin was 26, 27, or 28, even if he had a really good goalscoring record but only ever played in Russia. There are exceptions, but in general the EPL seems unforgiving to older players who enter it for the first time only in the later part of their 20s or their 30s.)

Welbeck out until February at least after another injury set-back according to reports.
Surly Wenger will buy a striker and CM, unless he is not serious about winning the league.

We should see if Moussa Sissoko is available. He is usually the stand out player every time I watch a NUFC game. He would be a great option to play b2b or dm role. He has PL experience and cant be as expensive as some of the names being mentioned. And finally he is only 26!

Michu and Vardy both scored twice against Arsenal in one game. I think we going somewhere here.
Chelsea to outbid Liverpool and 40m for Vardy.

A Google search shows that he's actually a Zagreb player though on loan at Inter

Now it's more believable. Wenger trying to go the cheapest option possible.

They earn their money by watching football games and don't even need to do extensive reports because Wenger uses his new scouting program anyway
