Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 4
speaking of goodfellas, great movie but I kinda ruined my viewing experience of it
when I was a kid my dad had it on DVD and I watched it, turns out I watched it back to front, accidentally put in the second disc (pre blu-ray era with dem multi-discs) it was confusing as f but I thought it was going for the pulp fiction vibe or something so I didn't notice until I put the discs back into the box
best scorsese movie IMO though, still yet to watch the last Godfather movie

Better Call Saul was a major letdown IMO, tbh I forgot it existed until you just brought it up, had a few good eps but the season as a whole was meh. Hear Daredevil is good, need to get around to that soon if I can get over my Superhero apathy.

The Strain is kinda fun, tbh, although I mostly just watch it because I'm not watching much else. Check it out if you like a solid cast, vampires and Guillermo Del Toro's stuff.

Daredevil: Yes
BCS: Nope, I guess I could, although the premise doesn't really attract me
The Strain: Loved the pilot, steadily downhill from there

not happy ending, but morally acceptable ending, as if the *bleep* Hollywood code of the 30s was back.
In Internal Affairs, the bad guy remains and wins. In Departed, you have *bleep* Marky Mark appearing as the deus ex machina and killing him so justice is served.
It's an absolute no-go tbh as remakes go.
Compare that to Scorsese's Cape Fear remake, where he actually complicated the good-evil dichotomy compared to the 50s original.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 4
ppl are sleeping on asian crime thrillers btw, tons of top stuff coming out of Korea & Japan in the last 15 years. A lot of it has a Scorsese/Michael Mann vibe.
BC, IDK what's even out then, seems like you're up to date on everything worth checking. I assume you watched Fargo last year?
final recc (don't remember seeing you in the thread) check out the first season of Justified, even though it's a few years old now. Quality series.

People aren't sleeping on it. People just don't give two shits about watching films, not only in a foreign language that is unlike most, but also everything is different, ethnicity, culture etc.. It is like 1% of the 1% that watches them. I love to watch foreign movie, since I don't mind reading subtitles. But there's not a lot of people that wants to watch it. We are like 10 out of 35 in my class (studying) film that watches non-English and non-Danish films. And we are a very specific group. Doubt any film buffs is sleeping on south korean cinema, they have a great a crime and mystery movement going.

It's not really a suerphero show tbh.
No superpower is involved in it. You'll like it considering it has a lot of martial arts

Daredevil has superpowers to be perfectly honest No way those senses are realistic.

I really don't see how that ending ruined things or made it worse than the ending of Infernal Affairs? In Infernal Affairs Chinese Sullivan is basically gonna start anew, put everything behind him and focus on his police career and marriage. So what Scorsese changed it to Sullivan dying too? Mark Wahlberg was amazing as Dingham, probably his best ever performance. It's not like he dropped outta nowhere, it was obvious Costigan told him about Sullivan too. He was in the thick of the investigation and hated Sullivan from the start. Scorsese did an amazing job with the movie.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 4
I have always cringed inside at OTT superpowers even when I enjoy the movie/tv show. DD had none of that. I guess it's partially because in DD you get the sense it's less of a power and more of a double sided gift. He struggles with it massively, especially before he learned to control it.
I also hate Superman, definition of disgustingly OP and I hate the hulk with a passion. FFS just lol at a character who turns into a stupid, screaming nearly invincible being. Horrible for storytelling.
I hope DD stays away from the marvel movie super power lazer alien stuff because it's perfect the way it is.

Superman is legit IMO, you are just jelly that he worked hard at the gym to be able to lift an island with his bare hands.

If Superman wasn't OP the eventual battle against Darkseid would be pretty futile.
Wonder Woman gonna wreck him up though
Also this thread has barely been about Tv shows for the last few pages

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 4
there's a show that recently just finished that had quite a lot of hype here, I didn't rate it all that much, but admittedly I mostly used it as background noise, IIRC it was co-produced by AMC , It's called Humans, 8 eps.

Black sails and The 100 are both highly rated but i've not seen either. Can always try one of them.
Would watch either if they were on netflix. But they aren't
