Re: Loan Watch Thread
Weekend preview:
Emi Martinez, Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom
The first loanee clash of the season in a potentially exciting game between Wolves and Hull on Sunday (12:00). Martinez will be looking to stop an in-form Akpom, who has two goals for his new club in as many games. Hayden, meanwhile, may get another outing in the centre of midfield. This game is on Sky Sports, so it's a chance to see at least three Arsenal players do well before the first team's potentially embarrassing trip to Palace an hour and a half later.
Serge Gnabry
After he was presented to the Baggies fans on Monday before their game against City, Gnabry could make his first appearance, likely from the bench, against newly promoted Watford on Saturday (15:00). Pulis will probably use him as an auxiliary right back.
Dan Crowley
Barnsley are home to Burton Albion (managed by Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank) on Saturday (15:00).
Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Ipswich are home to Sheff Wed on Saturday (15:00) and Niles is due to start again.
Jon Toral
Toral will be looking to build on his positive debut when Birmingham travel to Burnley on Saturday (12:30). This game is live on Sky Sports so streams should be available.
Yaya Sanogo
Ajax are home to Willem II on Saturday (18:45), where Sanogo will probably feature from the bench again. A chance for the big man to prove his detractors wrong.
Carl Jenkinson
Fresh from their win against us, West Ham are at home against Leicester on Saturday (15:00). Jenkinson, forced to sit out the win against his parent club due to the rules of the loan, could come back in the side.

Jon Toral just scored a great goal from 20 yards for Birmingham. Got on the end of a knockdown, and hit it hard and low into the corner first time.

Jenkinson played 90 minutes for West Ham in their 2-1 home less to Leicester. Ended up in goal for the last couple of minutes after Adrian was sent off.
Maitland-Niles played 74 minutes for Ipswich.
Dan Crowley came on at half-time for Barnsley.
Toral played 75 minutes and scored for Birmingham.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Emi Martinez, Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom all start for Wolves and Hull respectively.
Hayden is playing in central midfield alongside Tom Huddlestone, while Akpom is up front alongside Nikica Jelavic.
Hayden subbed after 55 minutes. He had a mixed game; positioning was good but didn't get on the ball a lot and made some rash tackles.

Wish Hull had a proper football forum.
But reading on twitter, their fans really like Akpom so far. Which is good news.
Reading on Wolves' forums. They loved Martinez today.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Watched the first half and Martinez made a great save from a Akpom one-on-one effort and very assured in crosses and distribution. Akpom lively but way too selfish, to a point that it becomes an annoyance. Hayden was solid but nothing spectacular.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Jelavic even had a go at Akpom in the second half when he ignored him and decided to run through three or four players instead. He played well but that's something he has to get out of his game even if he wants to make it at Arsenal. All well and good trusting your ability on the ball but if you can't make the right decisions at the right times you won't succeed at the top level.

Do you guys think Toral could earn a rotation role in our midfield when Rosicky/Flamini eventually leave/retire?

He is playing for is future so its normal, he is desperate to make an impact and impress. He will eventually grow out of it, its a phase attacking players go through in their career.

I don't think so. Even he has a really good loan, I think Wenger will look at the likes of Gnabry, Crowley and Zelalem ahead of Toral, if he were to promote a young player.

It's been a problem for him in U21 games the last couple of seasons, too. Seems more like a genuine flaw in his game, though yes, he should improve as he gains more experience.

Zelalem being linked with a loan move to Rangers.
Surely we can find him a better loan than the Scottish second division?

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Hearts got the automatic spot and then Rangers got trashed by Motherwell in the play-offs. They'll probably go up this season, though.
What I think he convinced us to send him there is that Rangers are managed now by Mark Warburton, who managed Brentford last season where had Toral. He teams usually play possession-based football as well. Playing in front of 30-40k at Ibrox every other week wouldn't hurt him, either.
So while the level of competition is low the manager and style of play should be good for him.

Charlton, Fulham and Birmingham are also interested in taking Zelalem on loan. Any of those three would be better than Rangers.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Agreed.
Birmingham is interesting, they were interested in Crowley, got Toral instead and he seems to start regularly. If they can give Zelalem playing time then that's a good move but either of these clubs would do so long as he plays.
