He has been poor though. Him, James and Benzema have been useless and insanely lazy. Benzema in particular.

When I see Kroos coming out of his position and going forward killing himself pressing like a madman while our forwards are just taking a walk, I feel sad for my team.

This is not how a CL contender plays. Not even close.

Roma players find themselves in such good situations but they fail to take advantage almost everytime. No Roma player is making an inside run towards goal.

Cant believe Roma's tactics. Way too soft and conservative. If anything la liga has taught anyone the last couple of months, its that you can bring your game against madrid. play them openly, and let your midfield do the work. madrids midfield is still weak in defense. it is being showed week in and week out in la liga, but somehow roma wanted to play on the counter!? not taking anything away from madrid, a solid performance going forward and a good performance by ramos and marcelo. roma could have gotten more out of this tho.

Magnificent performance from Varane and Ramos. I'd say with certainty that they are at the moment the best centre backs in the world.

On the other hand, I've just witnessed the worst performances from a striker in the history of the CL. Can't decide who was worse between Diego Costa vs PSG or Karim DMzema today.

Sadly it wasn't meant to be.

I wish I could say I was proud of our team and its performance tonight but I#m not.

We are embarrassing losers and we don't deserve to be in CL.

I don't know why you didn't play Totti from the first minute. 40 yo Totti with one leg is better at that false 9 role than Perotti will ever be. I feel like he would have improved everyone else's play including Salah

I've calmed down a bit on Salah.

Yeah he missed 1393484092 chances today, but he ran himself into the ground and he got in behind Madrid with ease, just like SES did on the other flank. The problem they both had was a lack of a final ball or shot. Perotti remained our top forward, Dzeko was actually rather good as well, creating some good chances. Florenzi had his best game in probably 3 or 4 months. Manolas and Rudiger were fantastic at the back as well. Plenty of positive signs were on display today.

Overall, I am satisfied with our performance. We defended well, midfield did what it needed to do, and the attack caused Madrid plenty of problems just not where it really counts. I think it's important to remember that this team never stopped pressing Madrid, they were relentless and showed for large portions of the match that they were not afraid of these superstar players, as evidence of Manolas having his way with Benzema and James at times during the match, throwing his frame around at them. That made me proud honestly, even more so when the fans actually applauded the players as they left the pitch, a much needed boost from all of the jeers that they had been receiving just a few short months ago. We went down today, but we down swinging. Beyond taking their chances, there was honestly nothing more Roma could've done. Ronaldo's goal was world class and Jese's goal was down to timid defending from Digne. The penalty controversy is irrelevant to me. These things always matter when the team robbed doesn't take their chances. It never matters when those chances get taken.

We'll head to the Bernabeu and I think we'll obviously lose, but if we got out the same way we did today, I don't think anyone can have too many regrets or heartburn about it. I sure as hell won't.

Well, it was a great improvement compared to a Garcia side against a strong team.

Yeah, in terms of pressing and being organized at the back, playing counter from the first minute, Roma are much improved. there are no other ways to play against better teams, but the organization is better with Spaletti than it is with Garcia.

I dont know how Roma kept him after he was losing by like 6 or 8 vs the likes of bayern or barca.

Garcia plays one way and one way only regardless of anything... he's one of the most rigid managers i have ever seen. BUT, if he actually has equal or better talent, he does very well. It's only when he has a talent deficit and needs to adjust where he is absolutely hopeless.

It's not like Spalletti didn't get his own share of 7-1 tbh. Could happen in the return leg, who knows.
