Extremely poor by Hudson-Odoi for that goal. Was beaten 3 times in the same play. You can tell he has no idea how to play at this level.

1-1. Keane makes amends for his mistake for their goal.

Good ol' set pieces. Proud

2-1 England. Barkley.

Hudson-Odoi has been much better on the left. Looks more natural coming inside.

4-1 now. Barkley with another, and Kane with his customary goal.

So next up for the first team is the Nations League finals. Southgate actually has some important calls to make.

Sterling and Kane are a given, but will it be Sancho with them or will Lingard/Rashford go straight back into the team? If not Sancho, should we send him to the u21 Euros instead?

Rice or Dier at the base of midfield?

Call up Maddison and Foden or leave them with the u21s for the Euros?

Here's Hudson-Odoi talking about the racist abuse he received during the game:

Danny Rose also heard it, as did Sterling (hence his celebration for his goal). Hell, I heard it during the game when Hudson-Odoi got on the ball. England will make a official complaint.

Southgate on whether the players should walked off:

"I'm not 100% certain that that would be what the players would want," he said.

"There would be a mix of views, in terms of when we've discussed the topic in the past, how the players would like it to be dealt with. And they just want to play football.

"Of course, we have the chance to have an impact, but I don't have the answer, frankly."

He added: "Maybe that's something I'd have to consider in the future. I have to say, it wasn't something that came to mind at the time.

"I would want to have a long discussion with my players before to make sure that was a course of action they felt was a) something they wanted to do, and b) thought was something that was going to make a difference."

A Uefa delegate was at the game and Southgate believes the representative from European football's governing body heard the racist abuse.

"I'm reflecting on should I have done more?" said Southgate. "In the end, I think I tried to protect my players as much as I possibly can.

"I'm not the authority on the subject. I'm a middle-aged white guy speaking about racism.

"I'm just finding it a really difficult subject to broach because I want my players to enjoy playing football and not be scarred by the experiences.

"If people feel I should have done more, then I can only apologise for that."

England squad for the Nations League:

Keepers: Jordan Pickford, Tom Heaton, Jack Butland

Defenders: John Stones, Michael Keane, Harry Maguire, Joe Gomez, Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell, Danny Rose

Midfielders: Eric Dier, Declan Rice, Harry Winks, Jordan Henderson, Fabian Delph, James Ward-Prowse, Ross Barkley, Dele Alli

Forwards: Jadon Sancho, Nathan Redmond, Harry Kane, Callum Wilson, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford

Loftus-Cheek misses out because he ruptured his achilles in a pointless friendly for Chelsea. Hudson-Odoi also out with a long-term injury playing in a slightly more important game for Chelsea.

Luke Shaw not even picked despite being United's player of the year. Winks and Kane aren't fully fit yet.

The only real surprise is Redmond, but I suspect he was called up because Hudson-Odoi was out. Ward-Prowse gets in since Maddison will be at the U21 Euros.

Squad for the U21 Euros:

Keepers: Angus Gunn, Dean Henderson, Freddie Woodman

Defenders: Fukayo Tomori, Ezri Konsa, Jake Clarke-Salter, Jonjoe Kenny, Lloyd Kelly, Jay Dasilva, Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Midfielders: Hamza Choudhury, Kieran Dowell, Morgan Gibbs-White, Mason Mount, James Maddison, Phil Foden, Reiss Nelson, Harvey Barnes, Ryan Sessegnon, Demarai Gray

Forwards: Tammy Abraham, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dominic Salanke

A very exciting group of midfielders, balanced out by a weak look defence and an okay set of forwards. Only one holding playing in Choudhury could be a big issue, too.

Likely team:

Henderson

Wan-Bissaka Tomori Clarke-Salter Dasilva

Maddison Choudhury Foden

Nelson Abraham Gray

The u21s have experiment with a diamond before, so it could be possible to get Maddison, Foden, Mount and Nelson on the pitch together.

England to face Bulgaria:

Pickford; Trippier, Maguire, Keane, Rose; Henderson, Rice, Barkley; Sterling, Kane, Rashford

Hopefully Mount, Maddison and Sancho play against Kosovo because that line-up is meh.

England aren't even trying, but are 3-0 up thanks to Bulgaria's generosity.

Two for Kane (including an obligatory penalty), one for Sterling.

I don't know. Honestly think Chelsea will sell him in the summer, he'll be behind RLC and Mount once they are both fit.

But I came to say I am extremely happy to see four Chelsea players called up, last time that happened would be around 10 years ago? Lampard, Terry, Cole and Bridge? maybe? And we could add another in the coming months with CHO getting back to full fitness

England were dreadful last night. Thoroughly outplayed all evening.

Not sure what Southgate was thinking picking Trippier, Keane and Rose in defence. Keane and Rose are well out of form and Trippier is the third choice right back these days, maybe even fourth if you count Wan Bissaka. I know Stones is injured and all, but surely there's a better CB than Keane out there.

The midfield just didn't work, either. Rice is mainly a defender and offers little as a passer, and Henderson isn't so good he can compensate for that. England had two mids behind the ball most of the time with only one of them capable of progressing it, while Mount spent most of his time in advanced areas. Perhaps that was Southgate's instructions, but I feel like Mount is going to struggle to play his natural role without a competent ball carrier/progressor next to him. Shows how useful Ross Barkley can be in this team.

Time for Joe Willock to step-up imho. Or Harry Winks, I suppose. Screw it, might as well draft in the Longstaff brothers while we're at it.

I was soooooo surprised to see Keane in the line-up (no, I didn't watch the game), had no idea he is in the England set-up lmao. The guy's a fraud of the highest order.

I also don't understand the hype Declan Rice has got, he's just another Eric Dier - and I don't mean that as a compliment.

Interesting seeing the u21s play a back three tonight, considering the senior team haven't used it since the World Cup.

Ramsdale; Justin, Guehi, Kelly; Aarons, Willock, Davies, Foden, McNeil; Nketiah, Hudson-Odoi

Even resembles that World Cup team, with two attacking 8s and a winger playing off the forward.
