Re: The Bundesliga Thread
I know we live in a global world, but I have to admit, I was a bit surprised when going to the kicker website. The whole top page is about SuperBowl and NFL football and TB12 and Lady Gaga etc. Since when is the Super Bowl such a big deal in Germany? Though, I guess I should not be surprised, they do Monster truck now too.
Not surprised that Frankfurt beat Darmstadt, everyone does, but kind of surprised at how they are in 3rd place? You look at the players and it could not be more average. And it is not like they are relying on Meier to win games for them, OK a bit, but he has maybe 6 goals so far.
I am not sure why, but I feel really disappointed that Werder lost. Normally I would not expect too much from an away game-even if it is only Augsburg- but lately I have been expecting more from Werder. I cant pinpoint the exact date, maybe since the Hoff game, but at some point in maybe the last 5 games or so, I was actually feeling pretty confident about them moving up the table, safely out of the relegation zone.
For the Augsburg game, I was actually thinking they would win and they were, twice, but somehow managed to throw it all away at the end, which would be what I expected at the start of the season, but not now. Dont know where this false hope came from?
BVB apologizing about their fans, for attacking Red Bull fans, including women and children. People get really wrapped up in this whole 51% rule and proper clubs and all that . To a certain degree, I understand and even support it, but I think these so called BVB fans are just looking for any reason to be idiots, I call it the Trump effect.
Gladbach seem to be regaining form, Wolfsburg and bayer, not so much.
Frankfurt - Darmstadt (So.) 2:0 (0:0)
Augsburg - Bremen 3:2 (1:1)
Dortmund - Leipzig (Sa.) 1:0 (1:0)
FC Bayern - Schalke 1:1 (1:1)
Gladbach - Freiburg 3:0 (0:0)
Hertha - Ingolstadt 1:0 (1:0)
Köln - Wolfsburg 1:0 (0:0)
Hoffenheim - Mainz 4:0 (1:0)
Hamburg - Bayer (Fr.) 1:0 (0:0)

Toprak to Dortmund from Leverkusen confirmed for the Summer. Good capture, Toprak-Sokratis is a very good duo, now they need to kick out Bartra.
Let's hope Dahoud from BMG to BVB is up next!

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
The Bayern English facebook page was all annoying memes and American football stuff.
Very difficult to follow it many times with all their memes and trying to act like this "savage cool kid" to attract 12 year old bandwagoners to the club.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Mainz beat Augsburg 2-0 in the "almost going to be relegated maybe they will be, six pointer". First win of the new year and it is all due to the Bojan effect (or is it affect?). Ok, that is a bit of an overstatement, he had nothing to do with the first goal and the second was a penalty and the 15 minutes he came on for last game, Hoff happened to score three goals (Hoff won 4-0).
This victory obviously means one thing, Martin Schmidt-who kinda reminds me of the ex Nirvana, current Foo Fighters guy- is soon to become the new BVB trainer. That is based upon the new rumours that Tuchel is going to Arsenal.
Now of course this happens every year, when Arsenal, like clockwork, go into their decline and the scribblers and loud mouthed, so called fans all call for him to quit, but then everything is OK by the end, when they finish second and are back in the UCL and it will start all over again next season. With them losing the first game of the season, then pushing to the top, or close by only to fade in January...and the cycle just keeps going. Really, seems it has been happening for years.
Bremen v gladbach and Redbull v HSV are probably the most interesting games of the weekend, though one assumes that both HSV and werder will lose. I suppose Schalle v Hertha isnt bad either. Oddly, that game is being televised here on the Rogers "we only show Bayern games" sportsworld. Hope someone else takes over the Bundesliga TV rights next season.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
So for the MOTD, Werder starting the feared KGB front line while gladbach going with the Double HH, see I know the WWE wrestling too.
Forsberg and Timo back for RB. Yeah they can beat a team with the likes of Bobby Wood as the starting striker

One of the H's (Hazard) score first, not yet feeling worried, gladbach score on one chance, Bremen have done OK so far. Outside of giving up a goal everytime bmg attack.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
it is one of those games, where Werder has more possession and most of the game is being played in the gladbach half, but every time gladbach attack, you think they will score. Werder had their chances, RWO's favourite keeper made a couple of good saves. Bremen really should have scored on one chance.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
On the opposite thema, this half has been gladbach with more attack, though Werder do have the old man himself,Pizarro on the pitch.
