You think one of Isco/James will leave this summer?

You would think Zigra... they're buried in the depth chart. Asensio and Kovacic have passed them, let alone Casemiro, Kroos and Modric.

I mean, first game of the season and ZZ starts Asensio over you and I too would wonder if keeping one or the other is making sense. As a fan, I am glad we actually have such talent to call upon but these men have egos and honestly have the talent to start so if Isco or James leaves, I can't fault them.

Problem could be the price I guess. Not sure what Real would want for Isco but I doubt you'd sell James for a reasonable price?

I doubt they'll wanna sell Isco as he, technically speaking, is more versatile than James for what ZZ wants from his team. At the same time, I assume Madrid would wanna recoup at least 80% of what they paid for James which is I doubt they can.

James would be the one to sell, I think Isco still have a role to play for RM.

Also I did not realize that was our 3rd kit. What were they thinking? What are those? Bulls-eyes on the shoulders?

So Atleti drawing their first game, Gameiro scoring in the 90+3 min and Alaves equalise in the 90+5min i dont understand why they werent playing their normal 442 formation instead of this poverty 4231

They defended in a 442. The issue is that some of their guys are starting to show their age... Gabi, Godin, Luis and Juanfran are all over 30. Looked to me that they were a step slow defensively towards the end of the game, which was surprising. Not sure they can sustain that type of defense for 90 mins (or 90+5 lol) with those guys.

They have always played with 2 strikers though and they have the perfect tactics for that. Their defenders being old is irrelevant since Alaves couldn't string two passes together, attacking wise Atleti needed another attacker because Gameiro was abit isolated up top. Hopefully when Griezmann gets back he changes it back to 2 strikers again

Age does become relevant if you lost a step in terms of reaction. Smarts is great... but you need athletic ability too. When you have 3/4 of your defense and 2/4 of your mids on the wrong side of 30, you're going to get caught imo.

On that goal, one of those 30 somethings was late reacting to challenge the ball, got out of position and then those behind him were late reacting to the player/ball being open.

We'll see going forward. I personally don't think that it's going to be as good a year for Atleti because La Liga isn't a slow league and you can't have that many old guys.

Well Atleti subbed out their DM in search for a goal and ended up having too many attackers to see out the game. There wasn't a DM in there to stop that Alaves player getting so much time on the ball to shoot. That has never happened with Simeone either. He usually takes out Tiago and subs in an AM/winger but this time he took out Gabi too and it ended up biting them in the backside in the end

Leganes just scored their first ever La Liga goal against Celta. And it wasn't one of those Atleti jammy goals, they have been performing quite good particularly in the 2nd half.

Celta, like Atleti, played with their food for way too long.
