Player wanna join @Arsenal. @valenciacf tries to maximize fee. @MustafiOfficial waits to sign contract. Still no decision. Talks 2day!

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ok, shrugging off the doom and gloom just a little bit here, but do we see some signs of the high end market budging? Last week of the window and all?
It sure seems to have some grumblings about it in the midfield areas - Cesc, James, etc. (Not that we're credibly linked with them or anything) and that's probably the one area where we at least have the personnel, even if not the right tactics.
I can't bring myself to even start thinking about possible strikers on the move ffs - it all seems so dead.
Knowing Arsenal, getting a CB deal done will be a huge achievement in itself, what with our indecisiveness, inefficiency, and sequential deal processing.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Wenger had hoped to sneak a move for Griezmann under the radar and felt Atletico Madrid would be prepared to negotiate, despite the 25-year-old signing a new five-year contract at Atletico Madrid in June that raised his buyout clause to £86.2m (€100m).
WENGER BANKED ON ATLETICO RETURN FOR COSTA
Any deal would have been dependent on the domino effect of other transfers in a similar manner to the way that Mesut Ozil became available after Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid in 2013, while a year later Alexis Sanchez left Barcelona because of the imminent arrival of Luis Suarez.
Arsenal were led to believe that an agreement for Griezmann would be possible if Diego Costa returned to Atletico Madrid this summer, which in turn would have seen the striker replaced by Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge.
It now appears that all three players will be staying where they are, meaning Wenger will miss out on the kind of “exceptional” talent he believes can help inspire Arsenal to their first Premier League title since 2004.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I think this is all an elaborate work by Arsenal and Wenger so that Arsenal fans actually celebrate the Mustafi signing like they've done some massive business instead of rejecting it at first glance. Imagine if this deal was to be completed in like 2 days and most of Arsenal fans' reactions would be like 'meh', no biggie.
Man's a genius tbh.

Seems like Wilfried Bony will move somewhere by the end of the window, and I can see James moving if someone makes a big offer for him.
Problem is the season has started and there very little time for clubs to sign replacements. So a big money move like, say, Lukaku or Lacazette won't happen now. You'll find more and more players touted for a move saying their staying now.
I can't see any other big deals happening tbh. They've either already happened or the big clubs have already finished their business.
I think most of us would take Bony at this stage. As for James... I know a lot of people will want him on the impression he can play RW but he's not a player we really need. Would be a luxury signing that might placate some for a few months until the same problems in the squad rear their head again.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
James will not solve anything.
Both Özil and Alexis were collateral of chains set off by bigger clubs, more of less. And by the look of things, the big boys are more or less settled already this summer. Guess Wenger isn't too good at playing poker.

Wenger's not going to spend £60mil on James, anyway.

Arsenal boss, said: “I personally believe the only way to be a manager is to spend the club’s money as if it were your own, because if you don’t do that you’re susceptible to too many mistakes"
Its funny he talks about mistakes

It's very very difficult Piers. Ask your 'friend' Arsene to buy quality defenders! https://t.co/wVRca56EGI
