That's a good comparison.

I have to say, if we have indeed signed him, it's a good one. He's the complete fullback, physically strong and fast while also someone who runs in behind defences and has a badass cross in him.

Like Monreal, he can fit in as LCB and LWB easily - it's not a surprise that City want him.

Heard he's had a couple of major injuries in his career, though?

Seems he's played LWB for Schalke a lot and it's certainly a signing we need. We'll see if this means Gibbs is out the door or if Monreal will be a LCB from now on.

He's actually pretty good. Nonetheless arsenal wont get anywhere with wenger no matter how many talented kids he signs, hes lost the plot.

Doing some reading, it seems Kolasinac is "robust" and "never shies from a tackle".

So how many cards are we going to get between him and Xhaka? Laughing

I was battling with the idea if we need to sign a top CB this summer especially with Monreal playing well as CB and then Holding/Chambers, but this has me convinced that we do need one signing there, if we continue with a back 3. Can't rely on someone who can so easily break down.

Mustafi - New CB - Koscielny
Holding - Chambers - Monreal

Get rid of Gabriel and Mertesacker.

I'd like to see us battle for van Dijk, he has the passing skills to play in the centre of the defence and the height to counter the lack of it in the rest of our team.

We're sort of weirdly well-stocked with center-backs, especially when you consider Bielik in the pipeline as a possibility. Numerically we could handle three at the back next season without any signings, no problem, provided Chambers stays too. If I were more confident of these guys' overall form, fitness, and tactical discipline I would even be in favor of keeping what we have in that position in order to spend money elsewhere.

The difficulty is in how well Wenger (or his unlikely, hypothetical replacement) can manage the back line. It's this uncertainty that makes us want to see Arsenal go in for another top-level CB.
