I have been pretty excited about this tbh. Android has been my thing for like a decade now. Plus I have always like HTC's build quality. I have had HTCs for most of this time. I find Samsung's UI too cluttered and un-clean, it's like they try a bit too hard to pack anything and everything in. (And no, the Note 7 debacle didn't play a role in my view of Samsung, since their phones don't come in my purchase matrix anyway).

I have never been a fan of Apple and their walled garden approach. The only Apple device I have is 160GB iPod Classic, and that was a graduation gift from my dad. I was very, very close to choosing iPhone 7, but somehow it felt like a compromise version while Apple held back the real deal for the anniversary version next year.

I have a work Lumia and though I see potential in Cortana and what Microsoft could possibly (have) pull(ed) off, let's be honest - it's never going to fly. I'll be switching to a work iPhone 6S/7 early next year, so it made sense to stick with Android for my personal phone - allows me to keep the two compartmentalized

@Pixel: Been loving it so far.

The camera is out of the world ffs. I was in love with my HTC One M8 camera, but this is a whole new world of awesome. I have had multiple instances where people have asked me if I shot pics with a DSLR and post processed. Usually results in my whipping out my Pixel and enlightening them to the world beyond Apple and Samsung beaming with pride.
