My top 10 of the decade is probably this

1. Nightcrawler (2014)
2. Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
3. Her (2013)
4. Mad Max (2015)
5. Jagten/The Hunt (2012)
6. Whiplash (2014)
7. Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
8. Gone Girl (2014)
9. The Social Network (2010)
10. Steve Jobs/The Force Awakens (2015)

All are interchangeable depending on mood etc though. All 5/5 films for me.

Honorable mentions:
12 Years A Slave
Guardians Of The Galaxy
The Way Way Back
The Master
Spotlight
Rush
Man of Steel
The Big Short
Prisoners

That's how I feel with any film Tom Hooper does tbh. Never been impressed with anything.

The Danish Girl
Les Miserables
King's Speech

Haven't watched The Damned United though

I actually stopped watching this an hour in and I cannot recall quitting a movie besides this that I didn't randomly stumble upon on TV in the last 10 years

could be remembering wrong but that year was really light on movies so it got hyped

It was a fun movie, but let's leave it at that. Fury Road is miiiiiiles better than it, and up there with Inception, Black Swan, Blue Valentine, Drive, Inside Llewyn Davis, Prisoners, Gone Girl, Interstellar and Her as the best of the decade thus far.

Opinions lad, i think it's great so i won't leave it at that IMO. hmm

Also Inception is massively overrated IMO.

Most of Nolans (latter) films are tbh. Eventho Inception at least had some fascinating parts that I thoroughly enjoyed, Interstellar like FIrenze said on the other hand disappointed me massively.

That film could have been the next AI had Spielberg directed it. Likewise its rather funny to think now that AI, one of the best sci fi movies ever made could have been even better had it been directed by the one who wanted it direct it in the first place, Kubrick. Sad

Interstellar's script Jonathan Nolan wrote for Spielberg was fascinating to say the very least. The reason I am still super pissed at Chris Nolan is because he came on board and altered it from the scratch. Spielberg had an entirely different idea on how he wanted this film to to be. None of this love crap was in that. To think Nolan even asked his brother to change the gender of his kid, Murph from boy to girl just for melodramatic reasons infuriates me.

I am not saying Nolan's version of Interstellar is a bad film, no not at all. It was still a very neat and solid film albeit with a shitty climax. Just saying it could have been much much better. And therein lies the disappointment. The original climax J Nolan penned for SS on the other hand was dope. (Wish I could find it somewhere on the internet and post it here to say to guys how awesome it was. I had got the script from an IMDb thread in the form of a pdf file back then (approx an year before the movie released I guess) and now I have lost it. If you guys get your hands on it from some deep and dark corners of the internet, do give it a go, its worth a read, believe me.) It was mind boggling, the type of mindbogglingness you normally associate with a Christopher Nolan movie funnily enough. So, its rather surprising he abandoned it and went with them ghost and love stuff.

---------

Anyway I agree with most of those overrated list of films you guys have mentioned. Argo!! Laughing How on earth that propaganda shit in the name of a feature film went on to win the Oscars. Most of David O Russel's movies are overrated as well.

It makes me so freaking happy that this year we get an actor winning an Oscar for playing a fictional character.

Are you kidding me... Casey Affleck's performance in Manchester is one the most sincere performances I've ever seen in my life. That film is so sad... I'll never watch that again Laughing

@DNA

Just watched Underverden. Really great action film. Never thought I actually see a Danish action/thriller film that's worth seeing. I'm so happy.

SO happy I loved this film considering I have to work for the production company as an intern now.

Hell or Highwater (2016)
8.5/10
Excellent film. Chris Pine! Didnt know this guy was legit. Barring the obvious, one thing that impressed me regarding this movie was the cinematography. The way its shot, its right from the top drawer.
Didnt know the director of this film is the same guy who directed Starred Up. Proud No wonder then. Lol. the guy knows his craft. Easily one of the best movies of last year i guess.

^I agree. And I believe they will give best supporting male to Mahershala Ali just to put Moonlight's name up there. Or may be Adapted Screenplay but considering its rather puny when compared to the big 6 awards, my money's on Ali winning.

Any notable snubs as far as nomination's concerned?
I thought Joel Edgerton was locked for a run in the best actors category this oscars for Loving going by the trailer and hearing the premise of that film. Surprised he aint even in the noms. At least Negga got one. So fair enuff.
And Chris Pine. Thought he was dope in Hell or Highwater. Honorable mentions at least.
BTW anyone watched Lion yet? Is Dev Patel that good to land a supporting nom. Or are they merely filling the quota?
And yea James McAvoy deserved a nom too right, for Split?
