Di Marzio reporting Juventus in for Howedes
Brother Hans, is this a good move?

Berardi extended with Sassuolo, Roma has to look to Schick/Cuadrado all the way now.

Looool Berardi, he seriously lacks ambition this guy.
Seems like he is afraid to get out of his comfortable provincial club where he can go the easy way as Di Natale 2.0 and get as much yellow cards as he wants. Best of both worlds ?

He always says he loves Sassuolo, maybe he means it. Hope he moves on soon for the sake of his football though.

From Bonnucci to Höwedes? Hell no, I'm sorry.

Well obviously not, but how do you rate him? Its more for defensive coverage since he can play as a fullback- confirmed by Marotta in a recent interview.

Howedes is not coming to replace Bonucci. Marotta said we want a defender that can play central and on the flanks for cover. We are selling Asamoah (Sandro's sub) once we get a replacement and having a guy that can play CB allows us to have cover when we play a 3-man defense.

Let's put it like this. It's like going from Vidal to Khedira.

No point in buying Howedes, not any better than all CBs we already have.
Licht can play this position, seems more like a Fifaesque transfer speculation than a true link.

Marotta said it himself
Its about Spinazzola staying in Atalanta and Asamoah going to Galatasaray.

Howedes would be like 4th choice I'd imagine, not great but easy enough to live with that I guess

Oh i see. Too bad for Spina we'll see him next year along Caldara & Lirola.
Howedes back up RB/5th CB it is ?
To me this basically means Max don't trust MDS anymore, he'll be back up LB

Re: 2017/18 Summer Transfer Rumors Mk. I
Nah probably not.
Allegri also just said that "Lichtsteiner and De Sciglio give us guarantees"
It'll probably be Howedes 5th choice CB 2nd choice LB

Re: 2017/18 Summer Transfer Rumors Mk. I
Well Höwedes is a good, reliable player.
He 'can' play full back on both sides in that he has played full back for Schalke when needed (RB quite some times last season IIRC) and has of course also been the left back in basically all of the NT's games during the WC winning campaign in Brazil.
This of course, was due to Yogi Löw's wisdom that the climatic condition in Brazil would render the attempt at an end-to-end-running all action full back game futile.
He's never shown himself to be great at the highest club level. Not least for lack of opportunity wth Schalke, of course, but this is a chicken or egg problem..

He'd be ok. It'd be a fine transfer imo. Good for cover.

I honestly somewhat doubt Höwedes will go to Juve to be '5th choice CB'

Yeah who knowswhat he wants to do. He sure isn't gonna come over Chiellini, Rugani, Barzagli or Benatia though.

Re: 2017/18 Summer Transfer Rumors Mk. I
No chance. Not only is he worse than those, Marotta is specifically looking for someone to replace Asamoah the left back, while also being able to cover the other guys for CB.

Re: 2017/18 Summer Transfer Rumors Mk. I
Well, ok. You know your team better than I do.
But I'm not sure whether Höwedes is that clearly worse than Benatia or Rugani. Let's see, though. I'll revisit this when he's starting for you

Re: 2017/18 Summer Transfer Rumors Mk. I
Only way he moves up in the Juve world is if De Sciglio is moved to LB like Warrior says (very possible), and then he wouldn't have too hard of a time with Licht in front of him as RB.
Marotta's response on being asked about the possibility of him coming:
“You are very intuitive. We won’t deny that we had contacts, Howedes represents an interesting profile, but we still have to work out contractual issues with him and with Schalke 04. He is an option, perhaps more than just a hypothesis.”

Although you do know Howedes better and know Benatia. Who is better for you?

its true. I think there are enough matches to be split between the 5 of them in any case. Barzagli is quite up there in age and won't fuss. Chiellini misses a few games per season due to injury. Benatia is injury prone and not very noteworthy for Juve- was immense for Roma though. Rugani is awesome, for me, but may not yet have the belief of the team in his 'younger' (though quite accomplished) career.
The depth we are assembling isn't shameful

I assume that if Howedes comes we'll open up the option of a back 3 again for some matches.
