If Mahrez deal happens, that would be
1. 500+ million spend since Pep took charge (19 months).
2. 200+ on defenders alone.
3. Potentially 8 players costing over £50m on their first XI. United have 3 (4 if Martial’s additional clauses are included) in their history. Chelsea 2. Liverpool 1. Arsenal 2 soon.

he's obviously had a positive effect but you will not convince me that Pardew or Allardyce with a 2 billion budget would also win the league @Unique

I honestly think Mahrez is another, like the Bernardo Silva transfer, signing, if it happens, to keep us from landing him, not that there seems to be any solid interest yet from us but he would be a perfect player for us in the summer. I'm srs, Pep isn't in need of him. What a pos.

I've said this a million times but as of last summer they needed Bernado Silva it's absolutely massive hindsight to say otherwise.

Nobody expected Sterling to make this jump and if you did you're an absolute liar, time makes fools of us all but it was necessary at the time.

City have massively overspent but when each signing was made they absolutely needed them, Mahrez would be an exception but until now all their signings have been necessary.

Tbf I didn't say I blame Ozil. Anyone would be tempted with the amount of cash Arsenal are throwing at him. Unless he could get more elsewhere, it's probably not worth it.

With that being said, if you're actually going to use that argument, there is a large difference between a player like the German international Ozil going from Madrid to Arsenal and then staying at a poor Arsenal for years as opposed to Kane, a player who came through the Tottenham youth system, was given a chance in the team and is leading them to their best football in decades, and wants to win a trophy with his boyhood club before moving elsewhere.

It's not comparable. Or did Gerrard lack ambition as well?

No way Lille sell him. No reason to. They are fighting to stay in Ligue 1. You can't force a sell in winter window unless they club can find a replacement and Lille can't.
