FC Barcelona and the Brazilian club Gremio de Porto Alegre have reached an agreement on a purchase option for the player Arthur Henrique Ramos de Oliveira Melo, whereas FC Barcelona may exercise this right on the player's federative rights during July of 2018. In the event that the Club finally exercises the option signed, the price of the transfer is set at €30m plus €9m in variable amounts

The age (21) and the transfer fee is what makes the deal sweet. Looks good on youtube highlight. But we will see once he arrive.

So the deal is , Barcelona MAY sign him or will sign him. Did not get that part.

From what I gathered we have an option to buy him in July but we don’t have to excercise it. I may be wrong, though.

I’m glad to hear that because all the talk has been that he would join in January at the earliest.

We will need to exercise that option clearly. Iniesta isnt gonna last forever, and apart from Busquets who is aging too, Rakitic, and Coutinho, our other midfielders can take on that role obviously so..... another important is though, how is his position sense or defending even? Maybe asking a lot, but a top starting Barca midfielder not only requires to be a good passer of course.

It depends on if Coutinho can get his EU passport through fixed through his girlfriend, whom is Portuguese, by the summer. If that gets resolved, then Arthur joins in the summer and from what I read Denis will head to Napoli (also rumors that Gomes would also be out heading to...who gives a fk). If not, then we will probably still sell Denis to Napoli, and keep Gomes until the winter when Arthur would join.

From what I understand, our current 3 non EU spots are Coutinho, Mina and Paulinho. Coutinho is the one with the highest chance to get that resolved by the summer.

How highly do you rate him, as a Brazilian? I hope he's not a Rakitic level midfielder. We need more than that.

I don't like Rakitić in Barca, he often looks out of place and he's not that great in tight spaces. He looks good with Modrić but we have a shit midfield and there's nobody that can support him / make up for his limitations. Anyone can look good beside Modrić tbh.

I hope Arthur is better at distributing the ball under pressure because Rakitić is not an elite passer. He makes up for it with hard work, but that;s not enough for Barca. We need creativity.

What. My Brazilian buddy loves him. Was hyping him since well before he played a libertadores final. I got the impression he was highly regarded in Brazil as well.

Neymar was the unprecedented hottest prospect out of south America in the last 10 years, literally everyone in Europe and beyond knew about him when he was at Santos.

Not a hot prospect because he's a controlling midfielder and they dont get a lot of attention but so far I've only heard good things except what you wrote which I don't take into account at all. I don't even know why I'm replying to you ffs.
