Ancelotti to Napoli
Done deal according to GDM
Some things:
-Hamsik looking increasingly likely to leave (Sky)
-Callejon, Hysaj, Reina and Koulibaly are highly likely to leave as well (Sky)
-Jorginho is going to City (Sky)
It'll be interesting to see how they line up next season

I would be surprised if THAT many players leave.

Really surprised
But evidently Ancelotti has just realized that he is not rated from European top teams anymore after Bayern flop
so he accepts Napoli

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
Would love to pair Bailly and Koulibaly, the bouncer brothers ffs
PACE AND POWER
Sarri to Chelsea then? Ancelotti is a good appointment but I wouldn't be shocked if Napoli regress heavily if their mercato isn't on point to replace all of those important departures, wouldn't be shocked to see Inter surpass them in the next season
either way congratulations to Juve on another Scudetto in advance

Another season resurgence They might not win the league as City will probably be too good but i'd bet they look good again from nowhere as tradition demands.

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
It's unreal how Napoli ( their attractive power is even overrated. Even if they are a relevant team now, it's always difficult to sign great players .. more than Milanese teams ) never worsens after great losses.
After Cavani (he looked like irreplaceable) and Lavezzi, they sign Higuain Callejon Mertens.
After Sarri ( the real factor for their 91 points ) they sign even Ancelotti

Not convinced Sarri is even a a great manager tbh
but it wouldn't surprise me, either way, he can now prove it in a top league

Now that's funny. The guy has won everything and now the "flop", which was a blip, at Bayern is not rated anymore. Unai Emery actually lost a French title at PSG and he is rated. Unbelievable.

Rated from who ?
Ancelotti was just sacked by Bayern after a 2nd disater year and Heynckes changed totally Bayern after him. I invented nothing.

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
You said about Ancelotti "he is not rated from European top teams anymore" that's bs. Did Guardiola win a CL with Bayern? Did Guardiola get Bayern to a CL final? Jupp Heynckes surely did better than both, but why is Ancelotti "not rated" while Guardiola is?

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
I wanna assume the phrase "rated by who" was meant for Emery as not many folks actually rate him highly and Arsenal is pretty much his level. As for Carlo, football management is his job so managing Napoli is probably what is available at the moment.
None of the top clubs in Europe are of need of his services so this is probably the next best thing.

I am glad you are the Ancelotti agent, but I can just say that he was snubbed from Arsenal Chelsea etc so he is going to take Napoli which is a good club but it is a spare wheel though. Useless thinking about the contrary

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
Or it's Ancelotti who snub both Chelsea and Arsenal... who never dreamed of working under Aurelio De Laurentis ?
I don't understand why he became persona non grata all of a sudden. Sacked for nothing at Real and decent results at Bayern, sacked after a brain cramp in the lineup vs PSG.
Napoli is below his standards. Was expecting Gasperini or someone like that.

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
Alternatively Napoli were almost champions this year, with a provinciale coach, and if he comes in and can actually get them 4 more points a season he can become a legend and be as highly rated as ever.Robespierre wrote:Really surprised

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
He was sacked at Madrid for failing, yet again, to win La Liga despite being in a commanding position and finishing trophy less. Certainly not a "sack for nothing" scenario. In hindsight, probably should have kept him instead of hiring Rafa but it is what it is.

Well there are no more top teams with vacancy left for him to manage now, he has managed them all once before

Napoli overachieved it this year, they are a good team but 91 points again are unreal
They are a mass of jobbers and good players, but they have no top player
Sarri is probably provinciale for his communication but not for his gamestyle

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
A league flop like Ancelotti isn't gonna help Napoli better Sarri's point total, let alone win the league.

I agree, but it's a pretty good deal for them nonetheless. They're losing a great tactician but they're replacing him with a three-time CL winner. They may not win the league with Carlo (they didn't win it with Sarri either), but they'll improve a lot in Europe.
Kudos to them for pulling this off because Carlo's Resume is too decorated for Napoli and they're certainly overachieving with his appointment.

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
Its a top appointment for Napoli. Can't hope for better. The objective is not to surpass Sarri's point tally. That's not happening. Only them signing Conte or Allegri would signal that and even it would be a huge task.
^Comments like this underestimate what the 91 points meant. Its unbelievable for Napoli to have done that, and not only that they did it, but that Sarri had put them in a position where we expected them do it and consider it "normal". Like Robes says, Sarri was the main factor of an unreal league campaign. They lost the league because we have top players and basically two teams.

^This is why I'm always complimenting the club in how its run. ADL, Guintoli and co. do an unreal job compared to the rest of Serie A bar Juve. Their coach appointments are ambitious and on point and their signings are usually smart. They really jumped into the power vacuum left by the Milan teams since coming back to A.
Their latest league finishes
Sarri: 2nd 91pts
Sarri: 3rd 86 pts
Sarri: 2nd 82 pts
Benitez: 5th 63 pts
Benitez: 3rd 78 pts
Mazzarri: 2nd 78 pts
Mazzarri: 5th 61 pts
Mazzarri: 3rd 70 pts
Ancelotti's objective will be to keep them in the CL spots fighting for the league and improve them in europe. Except for Benitez' step back they've been on track for a while.
Now they are rumored to sign Leno, Balotelli, Torreira, Verdi. While they look to lose Hamsik (China), Jorginho (City), Reina (Milan?), Mertens?, Koulibaly?.

Re: Ancelotti to Napoli
Yeah, let's take our strongest point of the team (the 3 man midfield), and scrap it to play Mertens as a pseudo right winger and Benzema #10, WHEWWWWWW
Diawara, Zielinski, Allan, Torreira will surely be central to Ancelotti's plans. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the summer Mertens leaves too
