Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
Ronaldo will not attend the final.
It was planned that he was going to sit next to Messi to honor the two greatest players of this generation but Ronaldo avoiding Madrid at all cost. Lol.
I'm sad because he was my fav player after Marcelo in Madrid but he is ruining his legacy at this point. Rape allegations AND now he won't show no love to the club he spent a decade in. Idiot.

Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
Former Boca Great Juan Roman Riquelme Blasts Madrid Copa Libertadores Final
Riquelme, 40, said holding the final between Argentina's two great rivals "won't be the same" at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium, adding the essence of a River Plate v Boca Juniors confrontation had become distorted.
Former Boca Juniors idol Juan Roman Riquelme lashed out on Tuesday at the decision to hold the Copa Libertadores final in Madrid, saying it would make it "the most expensive friendly in history".
"They took it from us. What are we going to do for the next Boca-River game in Argentina? Is that going to have to be played in another country too?" Riquelme asked on Argentina's Radio Mitre.
"It won't be the same. No matter how much I want Boca to win it, I think the final has to be played in our country. The way it is, makes it the most expensive friendly in history."
The first leg of the final at Boca's Bombonera ground ended 2-2. River were set to host the return at their El Monumental stadium on November 24 but it was postponed after River Plate fans attacked the Boca Juniors team bus.
As punishment, South America's football federation CONMEBOL ruled that River would lose home advantage, and fears over further fan violence meant the game would be played outside Argentina.
"What happened was very ugly. I don't want my children to get used to these things happening here, I was excited that Boca could become champions on River's pitch, and that they respect us if we managed to win," said Riquelme.
"What happened isn't normal. Just a few days ago we were worried that something would happen during the G20 summit, and it seems that everything went perfectly," said the former Boca dangerman.

Good man. He's right. It's a joke. The teams should refuse.

Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
Seems to me, there is a lot of criticism here towards Perez and Real Madrid. Whether the game should be played in Madrid or Argentina is not of any fault of anyone in Spain. It lies with Argentina or Copa Lib. Futbol Organizers!
As a neutral on this subject, i can state very clearly that the behaviour of River and Boca fans is awful and extemely violent. I have been to several games in Argentina, mine you some years ago, and my reaction plain and simple is I was afraid or terrified. The behaviour was similar probably actually worse than the British holigans. It certainly was not an atmosphere that you would take your kids to!
I suspect that this decision to have this game outside of the country hasmore to do with trying to evade this type of atmosphere. And for this reason I suspect this decision is the Copa Li. Organizers and I also assume they are likely not Argentinos.

there are so many punishments that could have been administered without having to play the game outside of south america. the two biggest rivals in the country meet in a copa final (possibly the two biggest rivals in the continent), and the game is played in europe like its some kind of friendly? somebody goofed big time

Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
Today, one of the Boca ultras leaders arrived in Spain, was promptly recognized and was deported back to Argentina (on same plane). He apparently has a list of criminal convictions!
Apparently border police have a list of ultras from both clubs, they are looking for and intend to prevent them from entering country.

Re: Copa Libertadores Final 2018: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
Aerolíneas Argentinas chose to fly 2 separate flights to Madrid this week, one for River fans and the other for Boca fans. I know a lot of people that wouldn't mind if both blew up...

How did he end up the plane? Wouldn't the Argentine authorities have him under some flight risk (and the other sociopaths disguised as "ultras").

LOL Doc, I think most of the ultras are sociopaths! by the way the translation (for us) of ultras is holligans.

I still don't understand how River didn't get a pen before the equalizer. I thought we had VAR for this game.

Good game this, Boca hitting post two man down and almost equalizing last minute.

Deserved win. Much better team on both legs IMO. Shame it had to be played in Madrid and that sterilized it so much.

Happy for River, considering the decade old Madrid connection.
Celebrated the Quintero goal as if it had been Madrid's.
