Manga and Anime

Yea it's definitely one of the weirdest thing i've ever read. Surprised they made an anime.

Yep, last arc dragged on a loooot. The author announced that it would end around volume 19 but she changed her mind and made it go a couple more volumes. She said on the last volume that her heart wasn't in it and wanted to end it but then decided to have an ending that would do it justice. Ending was not bad at all but man it really dragged getting there.

Anyway currently reading Yu Yu Hakusho and watching Dororo (2019).

Has there been a manga that changes so drastically like Yu Yu Hakusho lol? Went from occult detective to straight up fighting shonen. Climber had a drastic change of tone too but this kept the same tone but changed the type.

Dark Tournament lived up to all the hype, I started and ended the arc in one night. Was proper epic, although all the characters cheaply survive even when they lose matches I guess the characters were too popular to kill off. People say it was the peak of the series and I'm pretty sure it is, I don't see how it can be topped. Sigh, wish the Togashi could wrap up Hunter x Hunter.

As for Dororo, @RealGunner and @Firenze give it a try if you haven't. You'll get major Sekiro and Nioh vibes. The first half is excellent but the second half drops in quality. The final episodes pick up steam again and are quite good.

I watched Dororo as it was airing and was pretty underwhelmed. It wasn't bad, just was expecting more from it. Based on a manga from the 60s or 70s though so eh. Usually my rule is nothing before the late 80s.

Yeah I've read the manga. Is certainly dated but the anime is only based on it, not a direct adaptation.

Finished reading Yu Yu Hakusho, felt the ending was rushed. Was hyped for the last tournament but I guess the author got tired or felt he couldn't top Dark Tournament. Could have had two more full arcs out of the last volume.

Mob Psycho 100 is absolutely hilarious.

I can't believe I left it for so long ffs.

Ending of chapter black was pretty bad and finale was rushed but the first two seasons The new OVA which adapted the manga ending was great though.

Just finished Japan Sinks, Netflix new anime from the Ping Pong guy.

This makes two absolute turds in a row from him (Devilman Crybaby being the other)

if Netflix plan to keep throwing money at him, get an editor and some other people to keep him in check or something, man is basically anime Kojima. Phantom Pain and Death Stranding Kojima.

Finished season 1 of Mob Pyscho 100. Man the author is so good. Eventhough it's more or less the same formula as OPM he makes it so entertaining. Hilarious too.

Have you ever read Chi no Wadachi Frienze?

The new Psycho Pass movies and season are actually decent. Way better than season 2 but not as good as the first season. I like the two new characters and Mika has improved massively.

Read all 80 chapters in one sitting last night. That Art is so unique. There is nothing supernatural involved but each panel creates an eerie atmosphere.

Weathering With You is fantastic. Shinkai has done it again.

...until the ending. Bought the film down a few notches. Idk wtf he was thinking.

Still 8/10, visuals are orgasmic and first two-thirds of the movie is fantastic. Some GOAT cameos too.

I said before I don't read any ongoing manga, only completed ones Any idea on when Out will finish? Attack On Titan will probably finish in February, need to get on that when its done. I still have Clover and Rainbow on my list to read...along with recently finished ones like Demon Slayer, Haikyu, Dr Stone, Promised Neverland....sigh so much to read.

Watching Run With The Wind now. So refreshing to have university setting and characters instead of high school. Its adapted from a campus novel just like the only other anime with a university setting I watched, Tatami Galaxy. Sadly the novel has no proper translation, official or fan. The anime is good so far, diverse characters who are all realistic, there's even a black character and he is not a gross stereotype.

Read Bokura Ga Ita recently which had characters recently graduated from uni at the second half. But that part never got adapted into the anime. Overall I found it very meh, first half was actually quite bad, second half which got darker was much better.

Will definitely get on Zetton Sensei when its done. Didn't know anything at all about it happening.

Out could be in its final arc right now, but who knows if the author will continue it afterwards, since it's very popular in Japan for a seinen delinquent manga. Still a couple years before it ends, minimum.

AOT...I just want it to be over. The entire last couple of years have been atrocious. Feels like Isayama is just winging it. Wish I stuck with the anime, just like Haikyuu. I'm generally a manga purist but those two are just far superior in anime format.

I dropped Run With the Wind a few eps in. I didn't dislike it (heavy haikyuu vibes, well, same animation studio) but it was certainly not realistic from what I watched. Some guys deciding to get together to run track, do a little training and then I imagine they'll be very competitive? wat? some of the had never ran at all. great OP/ED though.

Bokura Ga Ita is actually my favourite romantic shoujo ever. Just because it felt more uh, realistic, I guess? (there's quite a bit of forced drama towards the end though) but the characters fuck up and make mistakes and dumb decisions just like people do in real life. It wasn't really romanticised depictions of people and love where they're a prince charming etc.

art was pretty damn atrocious at times though (author was sick during the second half) but I thought the art always captured the emotion via facial expressions and such.

I generally try to stick to only picking up manga that are finished myself, nowadays. Besides Ushijima the Loan Shark, I don't think I've picked up a manga completed or ongoing in well over a year, though. Finding it increasingly difficult to find manga that interest me that have been translated.

Finished rewatching Hellsing Ultimate as it's on Netflix. Seen it after maybe 6-7 years. It's even better than i first remembered. One of the best animes ever made.

Major. Forgot what an incredible villain he is. Alucard, Anderson and Major. All 10/10 characters ffs.

Finished Run With The Wind. Last episodes are incredible. Anyone who likes Haikyu or something similar should get on this. Hell, everyone should. Its really good. Its more character than action oriented and the struggles and vulnerabilities of the characters are all realistic and relatable. Man, I wish the novel had a translation.

Azumanga Daioh is a pretty good comedy manga/anime. Very funny.

Jujitsu Kaisen is getting an anime this fall. The manga is quite popular. The anime is definitely gonna be a big hit. Will be at least as big as Demon Slayer.

Got back into JJBA Part 3. It's amazing. Keeps getting better with each ep.
