Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala have signed left winger Yury Zhirkov from Chelsea for £13.2m, reports the AFP news agency.

That's a lot of money for soon-to-be 28-year-old Zhirkov.
Abramovich has paid half of it in cash to Anzhi owners to get Chelsea receive a hefty transfer fee? xD

Anzhi already oil rich owners and even tried to sign Ganso & Lucas by meeting their buy out clause.And Zhirkov i would assume being one of the best Russian players would increase their players to good extent.So its not really surprising they paid 15 mil for him.

Also read that Chelsea are mainly selling Zhirkov so that they can make space for Modric in 25 man squad.

No we're selling him because he is not needed. We will not overpay for Modric, just like we didn't for Pastore.

Anzhi we're also rumored to have offered naymars and pastores buyouts too but that could just be talk
shame he had to go cause he did have alot to offer the club but injuries ruined him, still selling him for 5mil less then we bought him is pretty good business for us so id ont mind too much

Damn, that's a great piece of business from Anzhi. For a team with such a dominant foreign presence, picking up, behind Arshavin, probably the most popular Russian football figure, is going to pay gigantic dividends for them heading into the future.

It'll be CSKA or Zenit this season, but Anzhi will definitely be making themselves heard, trophy-wise, sooner rather than later.

He is known as the Russian Ronaldo.. does that explain something? He came when Malouda was struggling and he got injured. Unfortunately, I rate him higher than Malouda but he never really got to hit form because of the injuries.
