Wilshere is Wilshere ffs, one of the top young players at what he does

Im not here to argue who is best, although most of those youngsters are destined for starting spots at the (for now) 2nd best team in the world Utd.

and B-Mac MUFC, its so wrong that Jones and Smalling were our most cultured players going forward with them being CBs

Well we have the players to adapt to a much more fluid passing system in the future but will assign a coach that will use a fluid passing system for these technically gifted players to thrive on?

That's the biggest issue imo.

Theyre honestly not better, Smalling and Jones pass and dribble the ball just as well as those do

Watch them next time, Smalling is ridiculous but you must have seen him by now
Utd swarming City was all Jones, he walked forward as a spare midfielder which allowed Cleverley to push forward...it was a joy to watch and hes 19

I meant young CBs btw, but i cant see how they can improve in this area unlesd they morph into Xavi

naaahhhh, look at the championship, all the young and up and coming managers down there are playing football on the ground. all the teams coming up to the epl...all ball playing teams that like to play it on the ground. long ball football is dying quickly in England they are starting to realise that physicality is not the answer any more. teams like stoke and managers like sam allydice will soon vanish from English football.

I'll be the first to give credit where credit is due, but first they actually have to get on a football pitch and attain results as a productive and cohesive team. Surely you must understand where everyone's hesitancy is coming from?

That U-21 team was hyped to no end by the English-speaking media and was a when put together on the pitch was an absolute disgrace.

RedEyesWhiteBeard who else do Spain have other than Pique? Puyol? I wouldnt say Ramos is as good playing the ball out..

Im not saying theyre the best of all time, but the ball playing talent is obviously there, and if there were any better 19 yos out there, every top club wouldnt have fought over him and signed the cheaper option.

Pique was at Utd and wasnt as comfortable on the ball, at their age, in the premiership
Sir Alex backed out of the Veranne deal for Jones and cost x2 the price..
Im predicting Vidic wont be 1st choice next year and hell replace Terry for England, hes that good

As you can tell, im a fan. These 2 are as much a cert for England as Thiago is for Spain imo

As much i hate Holloway's constant bitching and moaning i cant deny his teams play some great football and gets the best out of his players and would have no problem's with him as U21 manager or first team for that matter.

who hyped the u21s?

Smalling and Jones shone in that tournament while Morrison and Wilshere werent even there
Cleverley was pushed out to the left ffs

Are we really judging them on 1 tournament led by Pearce?

See that Welbeck and Cleverley? They can sure impress v Barca and City but when played laughably incorrectly v Swiss u21? they crumble

Jokers the lot of them

God, how long do we have to hear this nonsense. People have been hyping the English team forever and it's the same story all the time.

I agree with you that you have two great CB's coming through, but what was wrong with Ferdinand and Terry? England had/has them for years and underachieved why should we think any differently now?

I will agree with some of the points in this thread that the last couple months of pre-season games, the young English players have been playing out of there minds, but that is usually the case when they are on there club teams.

The problem lies when they put that English jersey on and don't have the benefit of playing with other countries stars and they fall on there face. I mean the under 21 tournament was just a month or two ago and they looked bad.

Yes, apologies to them. We apologize that the EPL has more foreign coaches then English coaches, even the national team is being coached by an Italian. :coffee:

Pearce if a frakking idiot, that's why the U21's were so bad....how hard is that for people to understand he played players out of position and had them by passing the midfield completely, i unno how many more times it has to be said before people stop saying it was the players, it was the bloody tactics

I was going to try and explain but its like beating a dead horse no one will ever get it.

England dont fail because they are overhyped, its because the tactics and formations used do not fit the players and until we find a formation and tactics that fit our players it will never change.

OK, lets say thats true and the players are 100% clear of any fault for looking as bad as they did, do you think they were good enough to win that tournament? BTW if you put 100% of the blame on a coach and 0% on the players thats crazy. Im an Argentina/Barca/Messi fan and even I thought the blame was 50/50 coach and players.

I watched a lot of the under 21 tournament and other teams were just more talented.
