Adriano 2012 vs Abidal 2009

For Barca fans.
If Puyol gets injured to much (I hope that he will not) Abidal is going to play as CB, and Adriano is going to play as LB.

In 2009. super season Abidal was one of the "weakest" players in first 11.
Standard formation was.
- - - - - - -Valdes
Alves - Pique - Puyol - Abidal
- - - Xavi - Yaya - Iniesta
- - - Messi - Eto'o - Henry

So, who is better as LB, Abidal 2008/2009 or Adriano 2011/2012. (Season did not start yet, but I espect from Adriano to be better beetween 25% and 50% than last season if he is going to play many games.)

I dont know, I think Adriano.

Abidal really annoyed me back then, mistake prone, beateb by players he was quicker/stronger/faster then. He really just looked a player with no intelligence.

At least Adriano is a force going forward.

Agreed but Abidal today is a completely different kettle of fish - one of our best players last season. Whether at LB or CB, he performs beyond expectations. Due to his age though I think it may make a little more sense to use him as CB than LB. Meanwhile Adriano looks a good bet to play LB as he is quite a steady if not a spectacular player who tries to improve continuously.

Abidal 08/09 was starting to play well, he was rubbish before that.

I'll go with Abidal.

Though Adriano improved a lot when given a run of games, but I doubt he can ever be as good as Abidal defending, and I'm not keen on having two attacking full backs regularly.
