Re: Rival thread
Arsenal could have easily scored 2-3 goals, with their shitty defense not surprised Manu would score this much. But everyone is going to praise MANU like they are the best team in epl history...think we can match them

Re: Rival thread
The Manchester teams are looking superb.
Although Arsenal were far, far from their last season's strength and Spurs have got three wins from their previous 14 PL matches, so neither of them probably are as good as we tend to think right now.

Well yeah, sort of, since either City nor United were never going to start poorly.

Re: Rival thread
so... granted it takes a lot of skill to score 8 goals in one game, but am i the only one who wasn't particularly impressed by manu today? the finishing was clinical, but you're not going to get that every time, nor will you get the horror defending that arsenal had on display today... 1 soft penalty, 3 major defensive lapses (including an incredibly poor play by the keeper on the first goal), and meanwhile manu's defending was fairly poor on top of that?
forgive me for not being afraid of them.

Re: Rival thread
as the lead grew...less and less were tracking back...even Fergie said we were complacent on defense as the score grew in his post match. wouldn't look much into it, Evans didn't have a great game tho, penalty then kept walcott onside on his goal

Matchday 4
Sunderland vs. Chelsea
Arsenal vs. Swansea City
Man City vs. Wigan
Wolves vs. Tottenham
Bolton vs. Man Utd
I have a feeling one of Chelsea or United will drop points this week.....Sunderland should pose a good competition for Chelsea at home, same with Bolton against Man Utd. Arsenal should easily dispatch of Swansea at home and get their first win. City will probably murder Wigan. For Spurs, it could be a toss up, Wolves are in a great form and could possible take a point from Tottenham. If we beat Stoke, it should be a nice week for us to see some of our rivals possibly drop points

I think United will kill Bolton. 4-1, 5-1 is my prediction for that game. I could see Chelsea drawing with Sunderland, but I have a feeling they'll nick a win with a late goal somehow. City could murder Wigan. Arsenal will probably win as well.
Oh, and we'll win as well.

As long as we win, I couldn't care less about the others this week! Stoke is a hard game, and we need the 3 points!

Re: Rival thread
If we could improve our finishing rate by 15%, we'd be sitting joint second now.
Disgraceful finishing, and our inability to keep a clean sheet is killing us.

Re: Rival thread
It's all part of the gelling process. The players are still developing understandings with each other and the management is still fleshing out how to get the best out of each.
Finishing is generally a matter of form and that we're creating as many chances as we are should be cause for optimism, IMO. Playing as we are, it only takes one result to get us on a run that could very quickly take us up the table... we're only 5 points off United at the moment (could easily be level had we finished better in the last two games).
I do agree that the defense is cause for some concern, though. Reina's radar has been off for two years or so now and we desperately need someone, ANYONE to make a CB spot his own. That's something to look at and possibly address in January.

Agger?
All of us would agree that he is the best CB we've got .. Im pretty sure he would have got to that norwich cross or wouldn't have slipped in the manu game..
