How much will Al-Fayed give to Jol for re-inforcements? Can Fulham repeat their EL run again? Will Dempsey stay ?

Fulham manager Martin Jol admits he needs to strengthen his squad ahead of a busy campaign and has set his sights on drafting in "four or five" new players.

Jol took the reins at Craven Cottage after Mark Hughes declined to sign a new contract with the London club at the beginning of June.

The Dutchman, who penned a two-year deal, takes charge at an exciting time, with Fulham set to embark on a Europa League campaign after qualifying through their fair play record. With his squad set to be stretched to its limit though, Jol is keen to bring in a number of new recruits.

"It's a good squad good, experienced players with a couple of young exciting players like [Moussa] Dembele who I know very well from Holland," he said. "Four or five players left the club. We need strength in depth so we probably need a similar number of players - four or five."

Fulham's first game of the season, and Jol's first in charge, will be against NSI Runavik of the Faroe Islands on June 30 in the first qualifying round of the Europa League. And, while Jol admits the quick turnaround is far from ideal, he is hoping the competitive fixture will kick-start their pre-season preparations.

"This is only the second or third time Fulham have been in Europe, he said. "So I could have said let's start (training) early in June but I thought it was a bad idea. You could consider it a friendly game with a serious touch."

Jol, meanwhile, is delighted to be back in the Premier League, four years after leaving Tottenham, and is already eyeing a long stay at Craven Cottage.

He said: "Everybody knew I would like to come back. I said that when I left, like Arnold Schwarzenegger I will be back, and I am back.

"I've got a very good relationship with [Tottenham chairman] Daniel [Levy]. He looked after me, he always did. There's no hard feelings. Of course you'd like to stay - I would like to stay here for four, five years. Hopefully it's realistic."

Riise: Grazie Roma!
John Arne Riise has thanked Roma for his time in the capital ahead of joining his brother at Fulham.

The Norwegian international confirmed he had left Serie A for a return to the Premier League by posting a statement on his Facebook page.

“I have had three wonderful years staying and playing there [in Rome],” he noted.

“This time it’s Fulham standing at the door and I look forward to playing with my little brother Bjorn Helge Riise and my good buddy Brede Hangeland.

“Thanks for all the support in Rome and I wish you all good luck in the coming seasons.”

Fulham boss Martin Jol also confirmed a fee, thought to be €2.6m, had been agreed with Roma.

“He’s coming for a medical. If that’s okay then we've got ourselves a very good player.”

Fulham have got themselves a great professional for whom I have so much respect. Very sad to see him leave, I wish him all the best at Fulham.

It seems like yesterday that a 20-21 year old Riise made debut for us. I still remember his thunderous shot against MU. Wish him all the best.
