What is a pato? Empty What is a pato?

Post by Adit Mon Sep 05, 2011 10:20 pm

Havent heard about the Brazilian superstar in recent years. He was hailed as the next big thing in football, some argued that he has more potential than messi. What is stopping him from fulfilling the potential?

Consequent Injuries? , Allergies system? or Berlousconis daughter?

Or is that "potential" talks bull?

He's already world class, with the injuries holding him back of being a top 5 player in the world.

Already world class is a bit stretching imo,he is not even top 7 strikers in the world at the moment.

Yup he is quite injury prone..

Also to an extent in reference to last season ,the Incompatibility with Ibra as a strikeforce..But now the trend seems to be changing..

Prior to Ibra's arrival ,he was Milan's main man without a shadow of a doubt but the arrivals of Ibra and Robinho has somewhat hindered his progress..

I don't see how this can be taken as a serious thread, not by a Milanista for sure...Why would I take it seriously.

I have no problems with the thread to be honest, Pato was very quiet in Europe last season so from that perspective I think I know why he said he "hadn't heard about him in ages," though I am being presumptuous. I don't agree with it as an analysis, however demanding that the very best players prove their talents regularly in Europeand not simply the league, at least if they're developing and lauded, is reasonable.

Out of the options you listed: "Can be world class."

He has deficiencies in his game besides being injury prone, however his ability simply as a goal scorer is certainly not over hyped, he simply needs an injury free period during which he can get his confidence up before a run of European games.

Finally some one with sense, nice reply from a milanista himself

I think he is being wasted in Allegries system.Ibra is the main man in milan and pato need to be the main man to be productive.I still cant see how robhinho can take the place from him though.

That is simply not true, Pato is at his most destructive when he has a capable CF partnered with him. His best season was with Carletto in 08/09 when we had R9 and Kaka, imo played allot similar to Sanchez, but he went off the boil at the end of the season. On the contrary i believe him to be at his most vulnerable when isolated upfront

As for your poll options i'd say : can be world class

Pato has identified weaknesses in his game, but his finishing, movement and pace means he's always a threat, also his injuries/niggles come at the worst of times, and breaks his momentum and good form. He is still maturing , but last few seasons we saw glimpses of what a monster he can become ( referring to the Inter and Napoli destruction) , if he's lucky enough to avoid injuries.

Also the Pato & Ibra incompatibility is a myth, as Ibra has assisted most of Pato's goals.

I said the trend seems to be changing..Both of them especially in the first few months of the season were clearly incompatible where Ibra was playing as a targetman and Pato was playing out wide..

Its when Ibra dropped a little deeper that this partnership started to work.

Ibrahimovic and Pato is still a relatively new partnership, so it's unsurprising that there are still issues concerning chemistry. Milan's strike force due to injuries, form and suspensions rotated Inzaghi, Ronaldinho, Boateng, Seedorf, Robinho and Cassano through the front trio, interrupting the front two and also the type of attacking midfielder feeding the pair. The time they've spent together isn't really comparable to a normal introductory season.

In Europe, when given more space, I believe the pairing can be brilliant together as long as both are confident and energetic, I don't believe we'll see any issues concerning selfishness on the pitch.
