Sampdoria have received bad news ahead of their Serie A clash with Palermo on Sunday as striker Giampaolo Pazzini could be forced to miss out through injury.

The Italy international has suffered acute lumbago and is likely to sit out the match against Rosanero in Sicily.

A statement reads:

“The diagnosis is of acute lumbago and his condition will be evaluated over the next two days, which will be needed to determine the squad to take on Palermo."

Pazzini played for Italy in the two Euro 2012 qualifiers on Friday and Tuesday.
