Agreed, it comes down to his personal ambition and how much he wants to boss the team. If he shows more willingness to come get the ball and boss things around, his game will improve, and his status as well.

That's precisely what Sahin does, he commands the football with presence and positioning.

Speed never cut it for me.

This is football, not track and field. It is needed, but if it is just wasted and used as a crutch like Ronaldo, it is not worth mentioning. Del Piero has a lack of speed but has technique, and that is why Ronaldo will not be playing at 37.

Anyway in the vids I found there was this nice shot when ozil tried to dribble past two players, the ball hit abidals face and returned to him

LOL at ronaldo having worse technique. You guys are on some K2. Ronaldo kicks and runs because hes fast as hell. If I had his speed I would do the same. FFS he runs a 40 in 4.22

Ozil is brilliant technique wise, but ronaldo is still much better. I guess because di maria kicks and runs he has bad technique now? Or roberto carlos kicks and runs, he has bad technique?

No speed is the worst thing for defenders, if they get past one one time you are screwed, cant recover the ball at all, it's just very hard unless you are as fast

cant believe you guys have made a speed vs technique war in that sense.

both are very important but if you dont have substance, or dont know what to do with the ball or how to do it right then speed is useless.

apples and oranges in a sense, although if you look over the course in history those who have been able to implement their game using their brains over their speed and physicality are those who go down as the best and last long.
