Re: Rival Watch
Chelsea captain John Terry out for 6-8 weeks with knee injury, BBC Sport understands.
Good news for us - even though he is kinda sh** now, they still miss him.

Re: Rival Watch
"I'm recovering well from my injury," the 29-year-old told his official website.
"I expect to be joining the team training next Wednesday after which I will start to focus on the match against Arsenal. I'll be happy to play Arsenal. I can't wait."
Have we beaten the Spurs yet with Van der Fart playing?

Re: Rival Watch
So Chelsea lose 3-1 in Naples...
Not sure if it's good or bad for Arsenal fighting for 4th that Chelsea will probably go out of the CL.

Re: Rival Watch
I doubt it'd make much difference in our contest to see who could be shitter on any given matchday.
They go out the Champions League, they lose more confidence, the manager comes under more pressure, they don't perform, they drop points... pretty much identical situation to us.

Re: Rival Watch
Interesting thing about this final is how it effects Europa League qualification through the league.
The winners gain qualification into the Europa League, unless they are already in a Champions League spot. In that case, the spot goes to highest placed Premier League team - in this instance, it'd be 6th place.
It gets more complicated with the FA Cup. The winners of that also get qualification into the Europa League, but if they are already in a Champions League place, then that Europa League spot goes to the runners-up. If the runners-up finished 5th (thus qualified for the Europa League) or in a Champions League spot, than the highest placed team not qualified for Europe in the league qualify for the Europa League.
So if Cardiff win the Carling Cup, that'll mean one less Europa League qualifying spot in the league. Then when you factor in the FA Cup, it's very possible that there'd be only one position in the league that'd get you into the Europaa League - 5th place.
This relates to us since we're all expecting not to finish in the top four. In which case, we'd probably have to finish 5th to get any sort of European football at all.
A good example was last season: Birmingham won the Carling Cup, thus played in the Europa League this season. Manchester City won the FA Cup, but because they finished in the top four, Stoke, the runners-up, got into the Europa League instead. That left Tottenham, who finished 5th, as the final team to get in. Liverpool, who finished 6th, got not European football at all.
Fulham, meanwhile, got in because of the fair play league. For the record, we've no chance of qualifying that way (should it ever come to that).

Newcastle 2-2 Wolves
Chelsea 3-0 Bolton

So, only a 3-0 win will take Arsenal back into 4th-place tomorrow..

Re: Rival Watch
So Liverpool won the Carling Cup. They're currently 7 points behind us in 4th but have a game in hand and play us next Saturday. They can easily get themselves back into contention.
Current league table:
1. Man City - P26, 63 pts
2. Man Utd - P26, 61 pts
3. Spurs - P26, 53 pts
------------------------------------
4. Arsenal - P26, 46 pts
------------------------------------
5. Chelsea - P26, 46 pts
6. Newcastle - P26, 43 pts
7. Liverpool - P25, 39 pts
And next weekend's fixtures:
Liverpool vs Arsenal, Sat 12:45
Man City vs Bolton, Sat 15:00
West Brom vs Chelsea, Sat 15:00
Newcastle vs Sunderland, Sun 12:00
Tottenham vs Man Utd, Sun 16:10
And the form guide:
Man City - WLWWW
Man Utd - WWDWW
Spurs - LWDWL
Arsenal - LDWWW
Chelsea - DDDLW
Newcastle - LWWLD
Liverpool - DLWDL
At least one team in the top seven will drop points. I can easily see us and Chelsea dropping points.

Re: Rival Watch
I don't see us losing to Liverpool. I wasn't sure about Spurs, and I certainly don't want to eat my words next week, but I'm just putting that out there.

Re: Rival Watch
It would be great if we can pull a win and Tottenham can drop points, that would put us in a good spot to pull for third. Esp if Chelsea win (which I expect them to).
