David Silva as a False 9

Watched the Spain vs Scotland game yesterday and VDB (who has the easiest job in the World) played him in the "Messi role" and he ended the game with 2 goals and an assist.

With Torres off form for a while now, David Villa now being deployed out wide for his club and Soldado, Negredo & Llorente yet to show they're International quality is this the best option for Spain at the World Cup?

I'm hoping he gets rid of the Busquets/Alonso duo as well and plays Iniesta in his natural position instead of out wide once he's fit.


That would be my Spain XI.

I think it might just be too much for him. I wouldn't trust playing him there unless he has enough under his belt playing that role.

Messi makes it look easy though.

I'm pretty sure that guys like Llorenta, Negredo and Soldado are ready to step up although they would have huge shoes to fill.

Honestly Del Bosque is a great coach because he won't rock the boat for the sake of it. He'll keep the winning formula and will only change it if he feels it's necessary.

Doing against Scotland is one thing and doing against the likes of Germany and Italy is another thing.

Silva isnt a clinical finisher to play as 9 against top opposition in Euros.They better trust their proven strikers like Negrado or Soldado.

I would rather play Fabregas as false 9 with Silva on wing.

David Silva upfront.

I've had this idea before. The way Silva moves is very similar to messi and he used to play as a striker before he got converted into a CAM. He will never be as good as messi in the role but I believe it could work out pretty well.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Spain play top opposition. We have too much hype going along lately.

He fits everything except his finishing isn't exactly ideal for that, but I think false 9 is a important factor in tiki taka so I think they should still try it out

And now that Mata and Silva are PL proven

in my opinion silva is MUCH better in the middle as an AM or false 9 than on the wings. MUCH better.

Firstly spain tactics are alot different from barca tactics,any one who says both uses same tactics are tactically inept. .Xabi-Busquet duo has been very successful as it gives extra protection needed for a international match defensively with out giving away creativity as Alonso is one hell of a creative player at the same time being defensively good.Also Iniesta starting on wings and dropping into midfield to link up with the midfield has been an extreamly successful tactics Del bosque developed as it drags the opposition full backs alot inside and makes space for Ramos/Enrique to overlap (reason why Ramos was one of the best player against Germany ) and simply out numbers the midfield to control the match.

Now the David silva situation.Since VDB will always play with that double pivot with busquet placed bit lower as a sweeper midfielder only option silva has is to play in front three of Espana.Since Iniesta is already starting in front 3 and atleast 2 goal scorers are needed i cant see silva getting a start ahead 2 other goal scorers as it will definitely affect their scoring probability.Silva might get a chance if either of iniesta,xabi or xavi is injured though.
