JuvenelCuore wrote:Agreed Luca, but drugs are worse than alcohol. Only bad thing with alcohol is that you can overdose, but unless you are a radical, a drink once in a while is fine. Not to mention wine is good for your health in moderation.
You can die from alcohol withdrawal, how can you stand behind that statement?
There are a number of ways severe alcohol withdrawal can be fatal. Alcohol withdrawal causes autonomic hyperactivity which means it increases heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and breathing rate. If severe this can cause heart attacks, strokes, cardiac arrhythmia's, cardiovascular collapse or respiratory collapse. Withdrawal seizures can sometimes be fatal. Repeated vomiting and profuse sweating caused by the withdrawal can quickly lead to fatal dehydration. Alcohol withdrawal delirium (delirium tremens or the "DTs") is the most severe form of alcohol withdrawal. Delirium tremens is uncommon but if it develops and is left untreated it carries a mortality rate of up to 35%, mostly due to the severe cardiac disturbances that I described. Fortunately due to advances in treatment and medications called benzodiazepines fatalities from alcohol withdrawal are rare. But alcohol is not the only substance that can cause a lethal withdrawal syndrome. There is a class of drugs called "Sedatives, Hypnotics and Anxiolytics". Withdrawal from this class of drugs is remarkably similar to alcohol withdrawal and can cause the same autonomic hyperactivity, seizures and delirium tremens as AW.
You should check out a few marijuana movies and really learn about it, I'm not saying you should try it, but don't be one of those guys....

Had no idea...I am just going by what I was taught, really. Had no experience with it. Most I saw was at a Tiesto concert, but it was the day after 4/20 so I imagine most people were not using drugs...mainly because the occasional users already filled their quota for the month and the hardcore ones were taking ecstasy anyway.
Besides, I get drug tested sometimes...depends where I play.

Guys dnt bother he is still a kid probably jsut left school or is still in school.
The alcohol / weed comparison proves it not to mention the way hes talkin about sounds like a teacher.
Let him belive what he wants, while we enjoy a bit of weed here and there.

You always have to make the effort to teach and share your knowledge with others. Now he can check out what we posted, or he can disregard it, the important this is that we tried and made that effort.

I sound like a teacher ? This is how I type all the time.
Besides, I think if I was "still a kid probably jsut left school or is still in school" I would not be talking like a teacher, who educates said students.
Paradox.

Who goodness me, now people are actually saying Cannabis is beneficial.
Clutching on to straws.
Do I really have to name the negative effects of Cannabis use?

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cbdv.200790151/pdf
Abstract:
The acute side effects caused by cannabis use are mainly related to psyche and cognition, and to circulation. Euphoria, anxiety, changes in sensory perception, impairment of memory and psychomotor performance are common effects after a dose is taken that exceeds an individually variable threshold. Cannabis consumption may increase heart rate and change blood pressure, which may have serious consequences in people with heart disease. Effects of chronic use may be induction of psychosis and development of dependency to the drug. Effects on cognitive abilities seem to be reversible after abstinence, except possibly in very heavy users. Cannabis exposure in utero may have negative consequences on brain development with subtle impairment of cognitive abilities in later life. Consequences of cannabis smoking may be similar to those of tobacco smoking and should be avoided. Use by young people has more detrimental effects than use by adults. There appear to be promising therapeutic uses of cannabis for a range of indications. Use of moderate doses in a therapeutic context is usually not associated with severe side effects. Current prohibition on cannabis use may also have harmful side effects for the individual and the society, while having little influence on prevalence of use. Harm is greatest for seriously ill people who may benefit from a treatment with cannabis. This makes it difficult to justify criminal penalties against patients.
tl;dr:
Memory issues
Increased heart rate and change in blood pressure - high danger to people with heart disease.
Faster onset of Psychosis and mental addiction.
Smoked - same dangers as Tobacco

Re: Footballers who smoke herb
Nick- youre view on weed is terribly sheltered and is constructed by teachers and your parents.
Some of the smartest people I know are potheads. Hell, the valedictorian of my school was the biggest stoner there was...
Of course if you start smoking you'll be around other drugs more, same goes with drinking. When I started drinking, people around me were smoking. Is alcohol a gateway drug?
And alcohol is 1442534 times worse than weed. People get addicted to and die from alcohol. Weed alleviates negative symptoms and is not chemically addicting. and nobody has ever died from it.
And people who havent tried weed say its bad cause they dont know what it does to you.... it relaxes you, makes you laugh at about anything, and makes you hungry. What's so bad about that? other side effects might be laziness, impairing of short term memory, and it might dumb you down a bit... BUT THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOURE HIGH. no long term affect, goes away, no damage.... it really is so much better than alcohol.
For me, the only 2 bad things I have to say about weed is that it cost money and smoking in general is not good for your lungs. Besides that, there is nothing bad about weed in my eyes.

It's laughable how uneducated some people here are about the effects of marijuana, both short term and long term.

The smoke from the weed will effect your lungs, but there are other options, e.g., baking and vaporizer.

Couldnt tell ya, must be a bit of both.
Having played footi while stonned, I can tell you that your body mechanics is soo out of sync with your brain. This means that you rely less of your speed and body strength while opting to a more free flowing laid back style.

I snowboard/ski while extremely high... nothing better. The only thing I suck at is getting off the lift on a snowboard, which sucks already... doing it high is a little bit trickier
however, actually snowboarding and going down runs... I feel so much more in tune with my body and my reactions. And I actually snowboard better, I think
drinking and snowboarding is another thing... definitely don't advise that

Same, I've seen a few players who are now in the NBA smoke at parties when I was in school. Maybe they still smoke, maybe not but they did back then.
