he doesnt have the work rate,but he always tracks back well.He was one of the main reasons robben was nowhere to be seen against us(Andre Santos was the LB back then btw)

I totally disagree, you realise the importance of Di Maria when he's not playing, the play becomes very narrow and the opposition can neutralise the attack more easily.

With a team like Osasuna who for the first twenty minutes or so, had about 6 men constantly in or around their box, it would have been criminal to have gone narrow, the score line could have been very different, had any other player beside Di Maria, started on the wings. He provides more width for the team than any player, and Mourinho appreciates it, that's why he'll stuck by him in his early season slump, and will definitely play him whenever he's fit against big and small opposition alike.

I disagree with you. We played our best offensive football this year in terms of style when Kaka and Ozil were playing together and Di Maria was out. Higuain also started out as a winger and knows the right wing very well. Benz and CR7 can play across the board.

Di Maria is a good player... not the great player some make him out to be and not utter piece of cow dung i view him as.

What credit??? Other than his tracking back defensively, he's sucked big fat donkey balls against Barca. That's just a fact. CR7 has been well below his usual too.

I don't think Ozil or Kaka would have done better against Barcelona on the wings, Di Maria doesn't always get it right but he's proven to be a very useful player for this team and his numbers show.

He was glorious today, and just like the young C.Ronaldo, I see a lot of potential in him, with a bit of Mourinho's guidance he's going to go places.

Di Maria has it in him... but he hasn't evolved much and the good defenses have now scouted him with Madrid. Until he can use his right foot and play simple, we're going to have to hope for random moments... nothing consistently good against those defenses. Of course, he's always good for a random moment.

He better hurry as Neymar is coming and he can do it all.

This is called pressing which our team is kinda depended on it. sometimes "running arround like headless chicken" turns into recovering a ball and turning it into a counterattack.

I suggest you to watch Marcelo's goal at Camp Nou. the goal was a sample of pressing and recovering a ball which turned into a goal.

Did nothing in El Clasico? Got our 2 only assists (pre-Supercopa where he had 0 pre-season)

Raped Alves the whole game and was a wonder in the defence. He is good vs Barca

50%-60% of our assists should come from either Ozil, Kaka or Di Maria. CR7 and Benz/Higuain are the snipers, although CR7 also has an assist requirement. Alonso gets some on his through balls... CFs will get a few here and there too.

As far as getting 2 assists... again, those random moments for Di Maria. He literally sucked otherwise.

Well , by your definition the entire team sucked against Barca because we had so little of the ball that all we had were random moments.

Team play is non existent when you have 25 % of the ball.

I see what you're saying tho...but I don't think it makes sense passing off what were some very good moments as just random moments. It wasn't luck , it was him trying and trying again. Nobody passes off Ronaldo's header as a random moment so why not give the same courtesy to Di Maria.

Anyway , my point is tactically, that what he did was legit. It was in no small part thanks to the fact that he played predominantly on the left wing in all the games.

First Classico... total team fail. Second one, we parked the bus basically and played a 3-man midfield with Pepe-Khedira-Alonso midfield. CR7 and Di Maria were supposed to create, but just dribbled into nothing with our possession. CR7 was not much better in classicos than Di Maria frankly. The progress we've made, including the supercup, is moving our defensive line up into Barca's side and gaining more possession, Ozil and Benz are playmaking, Khedira+Marcelo+Alonso have improved. CR7 and Di Maria have stayed mediocre throughout imo.

Running arround like a headless chicken cause them to rush the ball and make mistakes. believe me, it's a very effective way to interrupt their build up. even if opponents don't make mistake it still tire them mentally and physically. no player like to be chased when he has the ball in his feet.

Di Maria has a great stamina and he HAS to utilize it in a way. people think why Mou never bench him. he's idiot most of times right, but he adds 2 factors to our team which is very crucial, working tirelessly and producing magic at the same time. no player in our squad can emulate what he does for us.
