Glad to see him do well actually, he always gives his best. Just too bad didnt suit Barca. Thinking it was so strange, barca did so much to get him, but in the end, didnt prove all successful and let him go. He is an assist god, and familiar with the EPL, looking forward to tons more assists from him Smile

when cesc has space against BPL teams hes good. infact hes amazing when you don't pressure him. problem is he has the dribbling and ball retention ability of someone like xabi while playing as a 10. that's his fatal flaw.

perfect against ptb teams though

At barca he played in every single forward position, including CM.

The problem with him was that he was only great in the first half of the season, having great numbers both in assist and goals. But once January started, he turned into the invisible man.

+1. Although don't agree that he is perfect against ptb teams. Maybe when it's smaller teams who parks the bus, but once the bigger teams do it, he tended to be our worst player..

What a shit stat you just posted. Cesc hasn't scored a single goal in a Chelsea shirt yet he's been the 2nd or 3rd best player in the League so far.

Anyway, selling the best passer in the World for just £26m has to be the biggest gaffe of the summer. At least Madrid got a kings ransom on Di Maria.

Madrid sold their best player in the team, we sold the cancer of ours i'd take 10m for him a season earlier if it meant keeping thiago.. glad he left now before he ruins another youth's career.
he's an elite player just has no way to fit into our team.

Agreed, far and away the best player on the team after Messi in terms of talent but a terrible fit in an outdated system.

Has been outstanding now that he's playing with two players on the same wavelength (Costa, Hazard) with exceptional defensive cover in Ramires, Oscar and Matic.

Again 6 assists in just 4 games. Well on his way to breaking the record tally (20 by Henry in the 02/03 season).

Rakitic has replaced him well why are you crying here? Fabregas is obviously by far the much better player but Raki was a better fit.

And he absolutely ran the show today. We haven't had a player dictate games like that since Ballack left.

Against anyone half decent no he can't, there's a difference between playing a position well and being able to play it.

It's not a coincidence that since he joined you that you have been a lot weaker defensively and Barca have got a lot stronger defensively.

Mourinho has already seen this by playing him behind Costa against anyone decent and he'll to continue to do so..... Hell you said yourself that during Everton he was constantly dispossessed in the midfield lol, that doesn't happen to good CMs.

He's a fantastic player but let's not paint him out to be something he isn't, even when he plays CM his biggest contributions come in and around the box because by nature that's what type of player he is.

TL;DR Stahp.

Considering that his only saving grace was his stats, not really. When he didn't produce any stat, all he ever was for us was being a defensive liability.

And actually, while I at first was quite annoyed with how little we sold Fabregas for, considering what we payed for Rakitic and how well he has been playing, I have zero regrets. As I am sure that 99% of the Barca fans feel the same.

You do know Fabregas played in his normal position in the toughest fixture we'll face all season right? He was excellent defensively against City. Disciplined, used the ball intelligently, tracked runners, won tackles etc.

Outstanding in that game in a fixed role. You don't know what you're talking about I'm afraid.

Why are Barca fans getting angry in this thread? Iniesta and Rakitic are far better fits in your system, I've already admitted as such. Fabregas by far the better player in terms of ability, the best player in the League so far.

Cesc is one of the best assisters in the world, i've admitted it but in terms of overall CM he is far from the best, and one stat such as the one you provided doesn't equate to being a great centermid...
glad he works really well for chelsea in terms of getting goals, but i am also more glad he left barca.

Costa finishes either of the two chances he created and you would be singing a different tune.

Fact is everyone was posting a clip of Neville's MNF segment on him. Words like liability, undisciplined, overeager etc were thrown about ad-nauseam and apparently Jose would never play him in that position in a big game.

A week later he trusts Cesc enough to play him in a midfield 2 in the toughest fixture we will face all season and he did his job admirably. It was only until Zabaleta was sent off that he was pushed forward into #10 to get the 3 points.

You can claim we were parking the bus or whatever the fact is he played him there. We were set up to get a point or nick a goal on the counter. Cesc stuck to his task perfectly. City created *bleep* all until he was moved further forward.
