TBF to Cules (I feel dirty just saying that) Cesc was a heaping pile of doggy poo when he played for Barca when you compare him to Iniesta.

Cesc basically got in Iniesta's way the whole time, Barca actually ruined their balance accommodating Cesc just for him to get in Iniesta's way lol. Not forgetting that Barca's very embarrassing and public tapping up in the summers before his arrival too.

Nothing against Cesc or his skills but it becomes very easy to hate a player when so much is done to sign/accommodate him only for him to disappoint/ be inconsistent.

that was barça's fault for signing a player who clearly doesn't fit in their system .
it was the elephant in the room during that whole transfer saga . every pundit and fan asked the same question : " how does cesc fit in barça's starting 11 ? " and the answer was : he doesn't .

if you sign a player who played his best football as a free roaming midfielder , you shouldn't wonder why he isn't performing when you're playing him on the wing, as a false 9 , or restricting him in a positional game just to fit the passing style of barça.

TBH Barca of recent times are known for not getting the best out of incredible players like Ibra, Sanchez and Cesc. You can't blame a rock star for not being able to gel with a folk music band who only play like three (shite) songs :coffee:

Great post Zealous.

Ibra is exactly the best example of the Cesc situation. World Class player but simply a terrible fit. Zlatan has since proven himself as the best #9 in the World and I expect Fabregas to prove he's the best CM in football.

anyways i still stand by it Cesc was a bad signing from our part, a cancer if anything his coming caused thiago to leave, iniesta to sit the bench in some important games, and if he wasn't in the bench we played half the team out of position to accommodate him
so I agree with you that we have a history of not getting the best out of players but with cesc we went beyond trying to make him fit.
and in the end he didn't..
the only thing we could of tried to do is change our whole philosophy and start playing counter attack just for him.. which wouldn't happen even for a player like messi.

He can be the best player in the world from here on out, or the worst...and it makes no difference.

If we want to comment on players performance I see no reason why not.

Nobody is trying to handle anything, its simple observation. Ask about any other player and you can get opinions too.

and didn't the club's official website thrash fabregas in an article after he left ?

Franchise is right though, it doesn't matter what Cesc does from here on out for Chelsea. He was clearly not what Barca thought he would be when they bought him.

Some of the fans, yes, but what did the club do? The guy who thrashed Cesc on the website was an intern at Barcelona who they fired once they found out. Cesc himself said the board and players didn't want him to leave he wanted to himself due to the high expectation of him from the fans and some just simply didn't like him there.

Better at what? Playing long balls from his own half for a striker to chase in a team that parks the bus and invites the opponent's backline to play around the halfway line? Clearly Fabregas is the best, even better than Messi. In a proactive team that has to face 10 defenders behind the ball regularly where quick thinking, reading of the game, ball retention, one-twos, combinational play with his teammates, not being a turtle and pressing resistance are required? Well. I'd say the entire Barca squad is better than him. Including the goalkeepers.

Don't why we didn't keep Fabregas, he could have been what we needed. Can't see anyone on this current team, other than Messi with his world class playmaking abillity.
