The Forwards
Re: Spain's Replacement For Villa
Arquitecto wrote:VDB does NOT play wingers hence why Navas warms the bench. What he plays for our system is inside forwards while the fullbacks provide the essential width. How has anyone not gotten this point yet?
He has been playing 2 wide AMs so far? Inside forwards are way different IMO and I think their problem is that they lack width, with penetration. 2 wingers, who are able to score (Pedro & Callejon) would do the difference, and with Llorente as the CF

brace against zagreb, brace against ajax scored in his limited time on the field in the league, he is on a scoring run brah

Cuenca is more of a creator not a scorer, Cuenca is a superior footballer to Callejon.halamadrid2 wrote:Khaledbarca wrote:Cuenca > Callejon #justsayin :dance:omarish wrote:Callejon could work. Very unproven, but just becouse this goal is just so damn sexy enjoy:

yeah scoring 2 goals against Zagreb when you're already beating them comfortably is a huge contribution too righthalamadrid2 wrote:Khaledbarca wrote:halamadrid2 wrote:Khaledbarca wrote:Cuenca > Callejon #justsayin :dance:omarish wrote:Callejon could work. How can you consider Callejon a big game flop/not a big game player when he hasn't even played such? Also, scoring vs Barca with Espanyol (a derby), does that count?
Both are way too unproven to be compared, but I'm almost 99% sure that Callejon is a great goalscorer and that's why I think Spain should try him out and see.

huh, cuencas goal came in a game you won 5-0 against levante his goal was the fourth of the night and his other goal came vs plzen or bate who you also thumped
callejon on the other hand score our first goal vs ajax and the second most crucial goal vs dinamo, he also scored our first in the copa after wed struggled for a half hour to actually create something
cunceas asissts came in a dead rubber vs bate ffs lol dont compare that horse face to our god, its insulting

He has more appearances than Cuenca, yet barely more goals and 0 assists to Cuenca's 5.

Cuenca cannot be compared to Callejon, that is just disrespectful. Not even on the same level. Cuenca is not proven on any level yet.

Re: Spain's Replacement For Villa
callejon... jesus christ
spain are *bleep*, plain and simple... there's noone who can replace villa with their style of play and with del bosque's "just do what you do at barca" tactics even soldado or llorente wouldn't help
of course not like it matters, fernandon't scorres is going to play instead and spain will get dumped out of the first knockout round at best... they had enough trouble breaking down opponents (apart from chile lol) at the world cup, no villa = no party

Re: Spain's Replacement For Villa
So much ignorance in this thread. Spain have enough trouble getting the best out of Torres, it's even worse now knowing that Villa could potentially miss out. Cuenca isn't a bad option, neither is Callejon, both have been in good form this season. And lol @ playing the stats game. Cuenca has more assists than Callejon? Erm, Callejon has more goals. Stop running around in circles and not formulating a decent enough opinion without stats. Based on simplicity, I prefer Cuenca. Now that's an opinion.
Anyway, everyone has a chance, bar Negredo. Definitely not worthy of replacing Villa. Who knows we could see Del Bosque alter his current formation.

Why don't you bring it up to the one who brought up stats in the first place and immediately labelled Callejon as better because he has more goalsGladiator wrote:So much ignorance in this thread. Re: Spain's Replacement For Villa
Not like either of cuenca or Callejon has a shot at the NT... You guys really overrate horse face over there, I mean he plays in the second division FFS.
Anyway, with VDB and his screwed up tactics Spain are doomed to fail, I really hope he sees the light and finally changes stuff up. Ironically, we were all clamouring for Silva to be included back when the formation was OK and it was his inclusion that messed it up

Re: Spain's Replacement For Villa
LLorente.
He can add alot to the team......it sacrifices the width Villa brings them but adds areial presence and finishing.......and chances are gonna be created no matter whom you play behind him.Negredo is too areial.......Negredo is too areial and bulky......he's not Peter Crouch...but he's also not as proficient at using his feet as Llorente.
Soldado would make an excellent Ole Gunner Soljasker type substitute who just nicks a goal out of nowhere if you need it.
Fabregas is an opton if Barca decide to pursue it this season but I don't prefer it.
If Torres is back in form it goes without question that he starts but as of now he dosen't even deserve to be in the squad
Also Cuenca should be nowhere near the National team.........there are 2 levels of beter players at his position still not assured of making the team......Thiago Alcantara being one of them.
Callejon on the other hand is a forwad..........I can't say that there are many players......Villa being out.......who do his particular job better than him except well Pedro......so hopefully Pedro get's playing time...if Pedro is ready to go i wouldn't take Callejon
