Man if he never got injured and became the beast he was on track for, he would of been our VC

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
I am dying to see how he performs against a team like Chelsea. I still think the pair of Lucas and Hendo would get exposed too much against a tricky midfield like Hazard, Oscar and Fabregas. The only way to stop them is collective pressing from Markovic, Hendo, Lucas, Coutinho and Sterling. It will be interesting to see how we handle it when Chelsea counter attack. So I wont play Gerrard from the start.

My MOTM as well. So *bleep* amazing to see him almost as good as he was in 2011. Still not there completely, but so close now.

I doubt if he will ever return to his ominous best . But he is definitely improving since reintroduction.Don't call me James wrote:My MOTM as well. So *bleep* amazing to see him almost as good as he was in 2011. Still not there completely, but so close now.

He's looked comfortable and assured out there lately, but I'm not sure if he's capable of playing in a two-man central midfield when we're going to be facing teams who will take the game to us more than Sunderland, Aston Villa and Chelsea last night did.

I said my baby is back ffs.
He's doing to Rodgers what he did with Dalglish. We're one serious injury to Lucas away from being "crap" again. lmao

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
Every time he plays, I hear some commentators babbling (specially when ever he shoots) about how long it's been since he last scored.
My gawd, do people choose to be stupid when they are on TV??? His role is to protect the defense, is it that hard to understand!!!
Given the chance, these people will start judging the keepers by goals scored.

I think they have a small point, though. Especially now when Lucas is playing as CM instead of just DM. One goal in eight PL seasons is a bit unusual for a midfielder at a top club.

Paul Joyce: "Lucas left out of the squad entirely following a fall-out which presumably now promotes the prospect of a parting. He would need replacing."
I think Lucas was under the impression that he would have a bigger role this season and was most likely promised VC, and knowing Rodgers is such a coward he probably kept feeding him those lies. Rodgers did Lucas a wrong one here. Lucas is the longest serving player at the club. Loyal to the bone. If Rodgers didn't have a place for him in the squad then should have told him the truth and let him decide his own future.
This has precedent with David Brent. He did the same to Agger and Carroll.

I'd rather Lucas stayed, but I don't think he'd be a difference maker.

He is a difference maker in the sense that if he leaves we will very thin both in quantity and quality in midfield.Art Morte wrote:I'd rather Lucas stayed, but I don't think he'd be a difference maker.

He's a difference maker in the sense that he's our best midfielder lmao.
Not his fault we have a fool in charge.
Not surprised if the news is true. Watch Lucas dominate in Europe again if he moves abroad.
Starting to question Rodgers "man management" too.

I have no problem with him being sold if Can can consolidate that position, I'd wait until January.
I've (We've) lost Carra, Gerrard, Torres, Suarez. Lucas going won't bother me as much now.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
I've no problem moving Lucas in general. Coutinho was dropping into midfield a lot yesterday, and then we've got Henderson, Milner and Can with Allen and Rossiter as 'back-up'. We could take a young player on loan with option to buy, or even buy someone with big potential that doesn't need to play every game (or can feature in cup competitions).
Lucas obviously doesn't fit into Rodgers' plans, and I'm much happier with a midfield three of Can, Milner and Hendo. Lucas isn't close to our best midfielder anyway, so yeah.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
If we do sell Lucas, the only back-up CM would be Allen . Unless we are content with early departures from domestic and EL cups, Allen (and Emre, if we continue with 4231) as the sole cover is a terrifying prospect. And all that barring any injury to Henderson and Milner.Nishy wrote:I have no problem with him being sold if Can can consolidate that position, I'd wait until January.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
Lucas should've been captaining over Henderson, sadly favouritism is a reality at this club.
I started doubting Henderson's authority after dat Balotelli penalty, it's not what we need as a captain

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
Because Lucas is the pinnacle of leadership? I'd rather have motivated, vocal and character leading the team than seniority. Same thing with the argument over Skrtel deserving the VC...he isn't a leader in any sense. They are good lads that have put in good service for Liverpool but that's it. No way would I want Lucas or Skrtel captaining the team.

we better have some plan if we are selling Lucas. It will be very sad if he and Gerrard both are not here in this season I hope we dont sell him just for the sake.

Re: I Love Lucas Leiva
Fact is we've got too many players and would be better if some moved on. Henderson and Milner will probably start every game and Can needs to play, too. Don't need both Lucas and Allen for back-up and Shankly knows no one's taking Allen.
