I wonder if De Rossi is going to play the same role like the group game between Spain and Italy in the euros I loved him in that role he was so masterful. It would also be nice to see SES start next to Gio behind the front man.

He was a CB in a back 3 then. I think that was due to injury but he was fantastic.

But I'd just go with Juve trio + DDR in MF tracking back as he does anyway.

Highly doubt DDR will play as a CB this time around. Probably in midfield, where he has been just as good as ever. Doesn't really matter where he gets played it seems these days for Italy.

i dislike Giaccherini very much. hes like the teachers pet we all had in our class back when we were in school. gets on my nerves. i dont care if he scores 1000 goals, he'll always get on my nerves. i dont like him there at all as a wingback. if i remember clearly, it was his fault spain scored the tieing goal in the group games in euro 2012 in the 3-5-2 as a LWB. defending isnt his forte. De Sciglio > Giacc, as a LWB

He is on good form, and you can't use mistakes to justify why MDS is better than him, MDS in his time as a full back for Italia has been costly on a number of occasions, not just in this cup.

He may annoy you, but he's been Italias player of the tournament so far.

I understand MDS has great potential. But at the end of the day you're in the team because of how good you are, not how good you might be. A mistake is a mistake no matter who makes it, it doesn't change how costly the mistake it.

Currently, Giac is a better performer than MDS. In 5 years time? I doubt it, but the games are happening now in present time, and that's what counts.

Giaccherrini has impressed as an SS though. Not as a wingback as there is no saying Giaccherrini will perform over De Sciglio at a position to which he has proven in unable to defend for Italia.

De Sciglio has made 1-2 mistakes yet only a product of nerves as I'm confident he will perform v us, if played.

What do you mean "1-2 mistakes"? He made two versus Japan alone which directly led to goals Laughing

In any case, I would still like to see him start. He's young, he's raw but he has great potential and he has shown a lot this tournament (the good & the bad).

Giaccherini should not be used as a wingback, he should be an attacker because that's where he has done his most damage. Use him as an impact sub or start him but I wouldn't want to see him as a LWB.

How about this? By playing El Shaarawy as a LM, Italy could make use of his defensive and attackin skills.
