Mexican Pedro has had his 15 minutes.

No Alves makes sense in theory. Pep wants to stretch Chelsea, he tried to do this to Madrid but we didn't bite. Madrid said fine you can give the ball to Alves and Tello we'll just defend them 1v1, Coentrao/Arbeloa shut down Alves/Tello by themselves.

This time Pep is using an actual winger (Cwanka) instead of a fullback and a more established player instead of Tello.

Chelsea shouldn't fall for it though, if they put more than one defender on those two Messi will have a field day. Luckily for them Cex will fudge things up for Barca, more midfielders on the pitch for Barca means Xavi has less time on the ball.

Alves is a fullback not a winger, he's better when he arrives from deep with those runs. In a 3-4-3 he can't do that, which means he'd have to play as a winger, Alves is a great fullback but a poor winger. Cwanka would play better imo.

I've seen him play right midfield various times for Spain and quite frankly , it's a joke.

alves is not starting? hmm risky gamble but if alexis and cuenca play on the wings i guess it aint too bad, since the back line is primarily defensively oriented.. still thought alves was pretty much an untouchable despite the unexpected squad shuffle
