Chelsea are going to bunker down and look to play a quick out ball to the flanks.

The players on the flanks need to be able to carry the ball forward quickly (like Ramires) Torres can't do that. If you are going to play Torres then you have to bench Drogba imo and that should not happen.

Chelsea should just go for Kalouda on the flanks and hope that they deliver.

Play Torres as a winger to replicate what Ramires does. Of course it won't be the same, but it's probably the best option.

Torres has amazing work rate, and a very accurate cross.

Chelsea can bring on better players I feel off the bench. Players that can make a difference at least.

LOL Torres is MILES faster than Malouda. Kalou can hold his own on the left though.

Under no circumstances should Malouda see the pitch,

Even having him on the bench risks giving the psychological edge to Bayern IMO.

Torres on the wing would be fail, Zeal is correct.

Defensively, whoever plays wide has to be super aware because Bayern will look for overlaps as Chelsea will conjest the middle.

Playing strikers out wide is a horrible idea, they will switch off for just a second and thats when someone gets in behind.

Malouda and Kalou simply have to play.

It's not about speed at all, it's about transition from defence to offence and back to defence again. Torres can't do that for 90 minutes nor should anyone expect him to.

Malouda at the very least tactically understands what he has to do on the flank, Torres just doesn't.

I will be utterly stunned if Chelsea line up with any other formation than this:

Cech
Bosingwa Cahill Luiz Cole
Kalou Mikel Lampard Malouda
Mata
Drogba

Kalouda will be in charge of bring the ball out in transition, how well Chelsea attack on transition (or how well Bayern defend against it) will decide the game.

Because if im Chelsea, I would rather play Mata in the middle where he can find runners.

If you only play Drogba and Kalou, then he only has two forward options on counter attacks..Drogba probably wont even be a real option half the time either because he would of won the header, Mata would of collected the second balls and obviously Drogba wont be in a greta position to get in on goal.

Chelsea might just play 451 and Mata out wide anyway so it dont matter.

I could see Essien instead of Malouda Zeal, turning it into a 433 with 3 DM's...well 451 really.

Though, I agree your line up is better.

But Lampard is not going to be dropped.......and I highly highly doubt they're going to stick Lampard in a pivot with Essien or Obi-Mikel.

That's disaster waiting to happen right there.

It comes down to defense for them tonight so playing Kalou, Mata,Drogba ,Malouda and Lampard is never going to be a feasible option.

Zeals lineup is workable, but Malouda hasn't displayed any desire for defending this season , I dunno if the occasion will change that.Kalou isn't a defender either to be honest........they will probably just end up 4-5-1.

Yeah, Knowing Di Matteos playing style he might as well start with a defensive winger aka one sided 433. My bet is on him playing a left sided 433 to nullify lahm.

Why would Chelsea switch up their formation for the biggest game of the club's history?

Watch how they lined up against Barca, that is exactly how they will line up tonight, just switch some names around because of suspensions.

Lampard and Mikel together makes sense to me, its not disaster. Its not the most defensive way to go, but playing 451 with only Mata, Drogba and Kalou isnt much better..in fact its worse.

Law of average says that it's highly unlikely Chelski will get away with a win again while playing average.
No matter who they line up tonight I expect them to lose with 2 goal difference. Mikel and their two CBs just aren't good enough to park the bus properly.
With Terry and Ramires it would be another story.

Dani Bayern are going to be playing with Schweini Muller and Kroos from the start ,I like Obi Mikel but personally I want 2 defensive midfielders to deal with them.

Ok, but then your leaving Mata, Kalou and Drogba as your only players in attack.
