Who do you think should get the job?

This. But Kenny won't get sacked...
Kenny only has next year left in his contract, unless he makes CL, I don't see it renewing, thus making a perfect vacancy for Rafa to return.

What makes you think Rafa will wait a full season depending on us getting CL or not though?

Re: If Kenny was sacked..
Rafa loves Liverpool, there is no denying that, and he has stated many times that his first choice would always be returning back to LFC. I think everything will pretty much depend on the players we sign during the summer and our results during first half of next season.

I dont think our management will prefer Benitez though given his reputation for getting into fights with owners even if he did it for the right cause.

LOL wtf is going on? I'm not believing anything until we officially deny it or confirm it, but the rumors of Kenny's resignation are circulating the web like there's no tomorrow.

Exactly! In the absence of a real answer, everyone is trying to read between the lines. Truth is we won't know anything certain until the club release a statement. Until then, Kenny is the manager.RedOranje wrote:That's basically the Guardian admitting they know nothing more than us.Messiah "Aggerswagger" wrote:http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/15/kenny-dalglish-liverpool-limbo?newsfeed=true
Now, this is pure speculation:
IF Kenny were to be sacked, would you be happy with Roberto Martinez?

Just for the sake of speculation, No I wouldn't be happy with Roberto Martinez. This seems too much like a case of Roy Hodgson who did well with mid-table teams but wasn't our quality. To turn our faiths around we need a premier tactician, someone whose been there before.

Re: If Kenny was sacked..
Silly and short-sighted if Dalglish gets the boot, we played well this season and were tactically strong. Seems to be no problems in the dressing room and Kenny is a beast in front of the media. My only criticism to him is transfers.

Re: If Kenny was sacked..
Rumors are starting out of a lack of information. We'll know more about the situation when/if they appoint a new DoF (which they are rumored to be on the verge of announcing/completing negotiations). How close we really are to a DoF, I have no idea.
To be honest, I can see us changing up the management structure with a strong DoF and a more short-sighted manager. It's an American concept, but it's one that's worked in other sports. Employ a strong GM/DoF that has oversight of player acquisition and direction for the club. Then find a coach that worries about the day-to-day operation of the club including training, squad selection, tactics, etc. It's not that big of a step from the "tactical" football decisions Liverpool managers have made before. It simply breaks out the long-term strategy of the club into another role. This presents a much more stable long-term picture. Managers can come and go, offering differing tactics and game-day solutions to the squad (still very important). However, the DoF/GM is the "mastermind", working with the manager/coach on overall style of play, squad additions, approach, etc. The big difference from the Comolli-Daglish relationship, is the hiearchy is reversed. If the rumors are true, the hig-profile DoF will likely be the final say in footballing matters.

Re: If Kenny was sacked..
Hey guys. I really hope we don't get Martinez; I don't even know how a team can play like utter crap for about 28 games of the season, start winning with the last 10 games to go, and get saved from relegation, can have a manager who is suddenly the best manager of all time..
I reckon we'll go for Andre Villas-Boas if he accepts our approach, he was the guy that FSG wanted before we got Kenny on a permanent basis.

AVB for Liverpool gathering pace. Actually liked him at Chelsea. Wrong man in wrong place but clearly a very talented coach.

Martinez did that.
Bar Martinez, I wouldn't mind any of the rumoured managers. Obviously I'd like Rafa as first choice, but I really want to see AVB in charge.

Re: If Kenny was sacked..
Barnett's article in Times.
André Villas-Boas has indicated that he will need convincing that the managerial vacancy at Liverpool is the right opportunity for him, an assertion that contradicts suggestions that the Portuguese is desperate to take over from Kenny Dalglish.
Liverpool are expected to interview Villas-Boas this week as their search for a new manager intensifies but it appears that they will have to win over the 34-year-old as much as he will need to impress them.
Having seen his reputation damaged by a bruising eight-month spell as Chelsea manager, Villas-Boas has committed himself to doing everything in his power to ensure that his next career move is the right one. Although Liverpool are a sufficiently attractive proposition for him to hear what Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the club’s owner, has to say, it seems that it is anything but a foregone conclusion that he would take the job if offered it.
Speaking before yesterday’s Portuguese Cup final between Académica and Sporting Lisbon, Villas-Boas took the opportunity to congratulate Chelsea on their Champions League success while also admitting that he has yet to decide which project is right for him.
“The biggest award is to win the Champions League,” Villas-Boas said. “Congratulations to [Roberto] Di Matteo and the players. I’m still choosing the right project and that decision will take the necessary time.”
Liverpool have already received permission to speak to Roberto Martínez about the possibility of him becoming their third managerial appointment in less than two years. Discussions have yet to begin, however, and it is understood that Martínez will depart the UK for a family holiday today.
With reports in France suggesting that Didier Deschamps has no wish to be considered for the position owing to his contentment at Marseilles, it appears that Liverpool’s pursuit of a new manager is still some way from drawing to a successful conclusion.
Against the ongoing backdrop of uncertainty, several Liverpool players are seeking assurances about what the future holds. Chief among them is Dirk Kuyt, who is ready to reconsider his decision to leave the club this summer if a manager is appointed who is willing to offer him regular playing time.
The Holland forward became frustrated over his role in the Liverpool team and was ready to consider offers from clubs on the Continent when the transfer window opens on July 1. The departure of Dalglish, however, has encouraged Kuyt to await the arrival of a new manager before going ahead with his plans to leave.
“I hope I can stay with Liverpool,” Kuyt said. “With Dalglish as manager, I didn’t have the impression he would let me start from the beginning next season. We have to wait and see now. I’m not sure yet what Liverpool will do with this manager vacancy.”
Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger are also involved in contract negotiations, which are being conducted by Ian Ayre, the managing director.

Re: If Kenny was sacked..
Man this past couple of days have been very dull and slow regarding any news about the club but hopefully this hasn't been the case and the owners are working quietly to ensure we get the best available/possible outcome in the end.
