With 68 goals and a hat trick against Malaga, Messi breaks Gerd Muller's record (Bayern 1972-73) as all-time top goalscorer in European top-flight in all competitions in a season.

Huh? I thought Raúl already overtook that record last year? I remember that Gerd Müller congratulated Raúl himself on the accomplishment. So Messi has to take on Raúl and not Gerd Müller

He also broke his/ronaldos record of 43 goals in a season with 46 goals so far.

Funny watching Penaldo fans of all people try and discredit Messi's 68 goals because of penalties. Appreciate the achievement or leave.

Because I appreciated greatly Cristiano's record breaking league goal tally, I would gladly do the same here. Wonderful achievement that shouldn't be taken lightly.

Although I wish I could just find the posts from when someone made the thread about Ronaldo's record last year. Would be interesting to see if any ironies have taken place...

2 more Penalties today? Damn son, Messi sure don't like someone scoring more penalties than him. How many's he had this season? More than 15 at the very least.

Only 8 in La Liga, 4 in CL, OUT OF 68 IN TOTAL. When people talked about Penaldos penalties it was because 1/3rd of his goals were penalties, unlike Messi, so you can't use that as an excuse to troll.

Actually, Messi has gotten 9 in La liga (missed 1 vs. Sevilla), 5 in CL (3 vs Milan, 1 vs Chelsea and 1 vs some random team) and 1 in CDR where he also missed

That makes 15 penelties. Funny how he still have scored less penelties than Ronaldo (not sure tho)

we all know he won't suceed in Argentina team, unless he Spain buys him and play with the Catalan players.

Okay that aside, i think, there are far many players who acomplished much more than Mehsi ever will in international football. Mehsi has simply done nothing whatsoever what goes internation football. He is a nobody in history of World Cups, or even Copa America = things that matter the most in football.

But...he could become the best, or at least most succesful club player of all times. Yeah i know he plays in BARCELONA. that team can win tournaments without a coach even with one eyes closed. that's how good Barcelona are even without Mehsi. Spain 2008 and 2010 were pretty much BARCELONA + 3 Real Madrid players and they won the EURO and WORLD CUP consecutively. That's pretty insane, now add Mehsi as the that cross on the crown.

I think Mehsi may already be the greatest/most succesful club player of all times, perhaps there are few more records he can break. But I don't rate him to be amongst the overall best players in history. he is only in club football amongs the all time greats.

Yeah Messi scored 2 penalties today, not Messi's fault Ronaldo couldn't score his he should learn from messi

I bet Pele will find a couple of goals he scored more somewhere just to troll a bit more on Messi
