Bilbao had an infinitely more difficult route to the final. Beating Manchester United over two legs is itself an accomplishment

I'd like to say yes but they just aren't.
They get wiped out by Barca and Madrid most of the time, can't judge them until they make the CL which once again may not happen.
Porto might have been decent with AVB and Falcao.
Against city they relied on Hulk too much. They had no threat in the box what so ever.

The test would be the CL, but it looks like they're not making it. It's a little silly in my opinion, the winner of the EL should get automatic qualification for the CL.

They get wiped by Madrid. Atletico has always challanged Pep and his team, so don't know what you're talking about there.
I think they're good enough to compete in CL. Obviously doesn't have what it takes to win it, but they're better than the likes of Udinese and co.

No they simply arent..they havent proven anything on the big stage ,if they cant qualify for cl in their own league then they dont deserve to be called a top european team.

one game away from CL, qualified for more CLs than Juve in recent years, won the final of EL that Juve participated in.....

Let them qualify for CL consistently in La Liga atleast to come to such a big conclusion.Thats the least they can do.

well their coach got them from relegation candidates to within 2 points of cl in just half a season, HALF A SEASON

How can you call a top team when they cant even qualify for a mere 4th place in their own league..People judge teams based on consistency as well and they simply havent got that..And team strength on paper means squat.All should be shown on the pitch at the end f the day.
