who deserves the ballon d'or this season

I have no idea how Ballon D'or works anymore, so I'm gonna say Messi.

It's going to be an odd year to pick a winner. Still allot of year left for some one to stand out and lay claim to the title

Im pretty sure Messis gonna win it, although im not sure he deserves it. I think if Robben, Ribery, Ronaldo, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Gomez, Lampard, and Terry should all have a chance of winning it depending on how they do in the Euros. Ronaldo and Ozil are top players obviously and fight for it thanks to winning La Liga. Ribery, Robben, Gomez, and Schweini are also top players and they did well in getting to the CL final. Lampard, Torres, and Terry are also top players and won the CL final. It all depends on who wins the Euro though. Still think a European player that has something to do with winning the Euro should win it, but i believe Messi still will win. He is definitely the most talbted player in the world, but he had nothing to show for it this season and i think that hurts his chances, though i still think he'll win it.

Agreed with BC- Euros will make a large difference, as major international tournaments do. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Messi win it despite not being in the Euros.

Just to state the inevitable; Ronaldo will flop with Portugal per usual, Euro '12 will go to a team without a legit candidate to win the award, Messi will win the Ballon d'Or.

Well City, Dortmund, Juve and Madrid all won the leagues
Ronaldo and Pirlo were very influential figures in their league triumphs

Chelsea and Bayern made the final which Chelsea won
Drogba was a standout player in the final

But none of these guys are Lionel Messi so tough luck

If Germany does well in the Euros and Özil plays a big role in it, he'll win the Ballon d'Or. (hopefully, I'm sick of Messi winning it)

its either ronaldo or messi or a greater performer in the euros possibly who has also had a great club season

Well, it only didn't matter with Wesley Sneijder, though *shakes head*

I dont get this hype about Sneijder in that 2009 season. Lucio and Samuel were easily just as crucial as Sneijder. So was Milito. I am sorry, but i just dont think that Wesley was a standout performer in that season. I am not saying Messi deserved it, but there should be other names in the mix too. I mean Milito was not even there in the shortlist and that is a bigger disgrace.

Yes, but it has been won without any team titles, example Dennis Law -64, and will be won without titles. And Messi has actually 3, possibly 4 team titles.

It's basicly how impressive you were in the season/ year. And Messi has had possibly the most impressive season ever, individually.
