It is really close but I feel Gerrard is slightly, only slightly better at Lampard in most aspects aside from finishing, timing of runs etc.

this , lampard played primarily further up, while gerrard has played in a lot of diverse positions.. if iam not wrong he played am in the 08-09 season and statistically he was pretty neat..

No Gerrard has played further up, under Rafa and good span of his career he was a SS/CAM. While almost all of Lampard goals and appearances have come from central midfield.

Obviously a good span of his career he was SS/CAM or else why would the Lampard comparisons start?
But unfortunately he wasnt playing in that position week in week out for 10 years.

They really haven't played the same positions for most of their career. Its like comparing Ozil to Ineista. One is a CM while the other is a more of a CAM.

Comparisons is based on their goals and nationality.

I personally would compare Kaka to Gerrard, and Lampard to Ballack.
