General Ciro Di Martino has passed away in Rome at the age of 87. Born in Sant'Antimo in the province of Naples on 13 January 1925, Di Martino was Generale di Corpo d'Armata (Lieutenent General) and Chief of Staff of the Italian Army from 1987 to 1989.
He began his career in football after Franco Sensi took over AS Roma in 1993, initially acting as club president and then, from November 1993, as vice president and CEO. He returned to the role of vice president when the club was floated on the stock exchange in 2000, a position he held until a few months ago.
The thoughts of everyone at AS Roma are with Di Martino's family at this difficult time.

--------------------------------

Integral part of the setup in the Sensi Era as well as during our golden years at the turn of the century. A great man that was never really in the spotlight much. RIP Generale.
