Home Games

Remaining Fixtures (5) :

Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland, Swansea, West Brom,

Record:

10 wins (Burnely 3-0, Crystal Palace 2-1, Newcastle 4-1, QPR 2-1, Soton 1-0, Stoke 3-0, Aston Villa 5-0, Leicester2-1, Everton 2-0, West Ham 3-0)
3 draws (Hull 2-2, City 2-2, Tottenham 1-1)
1 loss (Man Utd 1-2)

33 points from 14 games = 2.36 PpG

3rd behind Chelsea (2.57 PpG), United (2.47 PpG)

Away Games

Remaining Fixtures (3) :

Burnley, Hull, Man Utd,

Record:

8 wins (Villa 0-3, City 0-2, Sunderland 0-2, West Brom 0-1, West Ham 1-2, Crystal Palace 1-2, QPR 1-2, Newcastle 1-2)
3 draws (Everton 2-2, Leicester 1-1, Liverpool 2-2)
5 losses (Chelsea 2-0, Soton 2-0, Stoke 3-2, Swansea 2-1, Tottenham 2-1)

27 points from 16 games = 1.69 PpG

4th behind Chelsea (2.07 PpG), City (1.87 PpG), Liverpool (1.79 PpG)

This is a significant weekend because we have finally overhauled Soton (1.64 PpG) and Tottenham (1.64 PpG) in away PpG. However, the celebrations are short - they have each played 14 away games, while we have played 16. Expect this to change in the coming weeks.

Also, we have been getting a lot of 1-2 away wins. Not complaining, but we have 3 away games left which we have to get 9 points from ideally.

Sure if Mata played regularly in the last two seasons he would be up there.

(a) With current PpG averages, we will pick up 5*2.36+3*1.69 points in the remaining 8 games, leaving us at 77 points.

(b) IF we win all remaining games, we'll finish at 84 points with averages of 2.52 PpG at home and 1.90 PpG away.

(c) If we lose our 3 big games and win the other 5, we finish at 75 points which would be my least expectation.

What do you guys reckon is a realistic points haul?

We finished last season with 79 points (24W, 7D, 7L). What would you consider progress?

I worked out 17 pts from the remaining 24 available, and I think that's good enough.
77 pts won't be bad. Think we shouldn't really bother ourselves with improving on last season's total as long as we finish 3rd at least.

At this point, I'd actually expect us to match last season's points total. That means winning six and drawing one of our last eight games, and that's more than doable.

The important thing for me, though, is finishing second. If 75 points is somehow enough to achieve that than so be it.

Don't think we should put 2nd place on a pedestal.
Yes it'll be great if we end there, but 3rd is just as good. As long as we get automatic qualification this time I'm more than fine.

75 would be a bitter pill to swallow, knowing how badly we shot ourselves in the first half of the season.

I might be ok with 75 points if title winners are around 80 points.. But if Chelsea are accumulating 85+ points, then I wouldn't call it progress even if we were 2nd with 75 points..

We led the table for 120+ days last year.. I want to see things in that context..

Think we could have won something the year he left if he had stayed. Maybe he'd even have been a part of something bigger than just the FA Cup we won the year after. Shame, really.

agree. Those chances/sitters that Ollie G got he would've comfortably tucked away and we could've picked up a few good points because everyone was really shit that season, you must just look at the side that were eventual champions to see that, but eff it c'est la vie

All comps :coffee:

With two more goals, we will reach the same total as last year. Those two goals would also have seen us overtake City in the table last evening, with a game in hand.

Instead we conceded one. Rolling Eyes
